Hi all
I currently take betaloc for high blood pressure. I'm trying to lose weight in preperation for ttc but know from previous experience that losing a significant amount of weight doesn't necessarily lower my blood pressure to the same degree. I've read on the net that betablockers should be stopped during pregnancy, and that there are other blood pressure medications you can take during pregnancy.

Anybody had any experience in this area?

with my first pregnancy i wasnt given any meds for my blood pressure until it was too late for it to do anything and they gave me labatol (sp?), i continued to take it after Rhiannon was born but it just didnt do anything.

so with my doctor we did a little bit of research and found an old preggy blood pressure med that they use to use and its called Methadopla or Prodopla and i started taking it before i got pregnant and it dropped my bp from 140/100 to 120/80 excatly...and i love this med as my bp had started to already blow out by this time with my first and now my bp is sitting at 117/78

so this might be one that could help you ( we also found that some bp meds you cant take while pregnant so that means when you get pregnant you may need to change your meds, which in turn means having to get use to them again), where as with this one i was on for 8mths before i got pregnant and i just keep taking them
