Topic: Can waters break... Posted: 03 February 2009 at 7:18pm |
and then have no contractions aaannnddd cervix still be closed and long?? or was it just a really weird pee that sounded like someone dropped a bucket of water down the toilet... Been checked by OB but she couldn't see any waters lying around and cervix not even thinking about letting her out.
i have a scan tomorrow anyway (OB doesn't want me to have an 11lb baby like DP was lol) so I guess she can see what the water levels are but that was one weird morning. She still moving as much as before so just really confused..
any ideas??

In most cases, your waters burst and gush and you will absolutely know that they have gone.
But you can have such thing as a hind water leak, where the waters trickle but I don't think they usually stop unless (and this is possible) the "bag" seals itself back up. I'm not sure what the sound was that you heard but at 38 weeks you will have a heavier discharge overall as well.

i barely made it to the loo and before I could sit a huge gush of "water" came out maybe bubs was just tricking me as I had a lower backache and (TMI) number 2 just seemed to "fall out" the day before... LOL
Just love all these weird things that happen during pregnancy
Oh and DP heard it from bedroom so was alot of water that I couldn't stop if i tried to

i had a leak for 24hrs, but it was definatly more than a dribble, like i knew it was definatly waters, they left it for 24hrs to see if contractions will start. they didnt. so had to go in and they used the gel. got to 4cms and then went on the drip. 12hrs later i was getting smaller, like 3.5cm. Caeserian time for me.

Morning
It could be your waters or it could be pee....If it's your waters and it hasnt sealed over it would pool when your've been lying down for a while and when yo stand up you will feel it comiing out...If this is your first baby then babies head would more than likely block a huge gush from coming out. again..& if your game enough do the sniff test....By what you said in your 2nd post it does actually sound like your waters Oh and contractions dont always start after your waters have gone..Best of luck ....

I had my waters go at 35 weeks with Spencer. I did have contractions but they were caused by the waters breaking and didn't do anything. My cervix was still closed but when they scanned me all the waters had gone, so yep it can happen. Also I had another scan 36 hours later and the waters were back to near normal levels but they continued to dribble out when ever I changed position or he was active.
They checked me and did a swab that was negative and ob tried to tell me I had wet myself *rolls eyes* it was only because I was so adamant they had gone that they did the scan and found that indeed I was correct.
Don't worry too much if they have gone though, Spencer wasn't born for another 3 weeks, I was just kept in for observation as he was breech and uterus was being irritable. I also had antibiotics for a bit.

Thanks cuppatea, i had the ob try to say the same thing and we are both adamant that it was my waters but there is lots of water now and she has got a "biggish" head for 38 weeks apparently so maybe blocking any leakage as she is quite far down.
Too bad there is no set one way to have baby, i.e waters break, contractions start, start pushing, baby is born. That would be great!!

I had similar with my 3rd child except me and DH were Well bDing at the time. Rang M/W and she came to check and honestly to this day does not believe it was my water but me and DH are both convinced it was deffintly something like that . so it was very weird. Good luck with baby. hope does not keeping you waiting too long.
