Has anyone heard of it or used it? My midwife suggested it. It's about teaching yourself your body can cope with childbirth not sure it sounds a bit airy fairy to me?? Here's the info on it: http://www.thepinkkit.com/
My midwife said a colleague of hers down south has been loaning it to all her clients and in 2 years her rate of births with no medical intervention has gone from 77% to 92%. The library has a copy of copies so guess it can't hurt to have a look.
Definitely have a look. I borrowed a copy from my midwife and found it good but I also didn't use it or pay as much attention as I should have (the whole birth process grossed me out a bit lol). I intend to buy or borrow a copy again next time.
ETA: I had a natural birth without medical intervention except a bit of gas during transition (which was useless and didn't do anything)
I used it for #3!
It helped & I had Erika with no pain relief at home in a birthing pool 4.5 hours after my first pain.
I don't think it was JUST that which helped but was definitely a factor as I knew what to feel for & I was alot more aware of what was going on. Midwife told me to push but I didn't feel right so she checked & I had a lip of my cervix in the way which was pushed out of the way.
Was a MUCH nicer birth than my c-sections for #1 & #2
Mum to Alex (11), Blaire (10) & Erika (8) and Damien (6)
Just to threadjack would it be worth looking at for #2 etc? Surely if you've been through childbirth before (vaginal birthing) you would have an idea of what to expect?
I had never heard of it until recently, but if it works then I would have used it as my birth wasn't exactly an empowering experience.
Emz, I'm definitely using it again even though I had a good VB. They also have a "just for" range which includes discs just for women that have had bad birth experiences - it could be worth looking into that one too.
I borrowed one from AN classes, it has made me feel a LOT more confident about labour and birth. It is really good for involving your birthing partner too. I didn't get through the whole lot but what I did learn was great I am really looking forward to labour/birth now and feel better knowing that DH can help me.
Those are great! A lot like the hypnobirthing i did. Of course your body can cope with childbirth, most women are designed specifically to do it! Good luck.
