Help! My baby boy goes down for the night but lies awake for 3 hours! He isn't crying and I'm convinced he's tired when he goes down. Last night I had to feed him twice and rock him in my arms to get him to sleep. He was so overtired and word eyed, the rims if his eyes were red. It breaks my heart knowing he is awake by himself but probably needs to be asleep. He's 8 weeks and a little more alert now. Any advice or had anyone else experienced this insomnia with their baby st night?

if he isnt screaming or crying and has been feed and has a clean nappy and warm/dry bed I'd leave him. often my children did and still do lie awake for ages long as they arent crying (well it's more like mum I need a drink mum I need to go toilet etc etc lol:)

just think are there nights when you cannot go to sleep and you just lie there but eventually do fall asleep?

I'd have thought that if he was upset he'd cry, an 8 week old baby has no awareness of emotions etc, they just do it.
Maybe just put him down a bit later? Thereäs no set time for babies to go to bed, not when they're that little anyway. Just keep him up, at that age they're way too little to keep themselves awake, it's all very basic and instinctive.
