Topic: Breast Pump advice pleas Posted: 11 January 2009 at 5:01pm |
Hi Ladies
I am planning on breast feeding (all going well) but want a breast pump to express too.
I have heard the Avent ISIS electric one is good, but because i will only be using occasionally I thought a manualone would be ok?? - I would appreciate any reccomendations and reasons for your thoughts before I purchase one.
Thanks in advance

RubyG, it will depend on how much strength you have in your hands as you will be pumping for a while with the hand pump. Personally I can't do it manual as I have RSI. I do believe that the Avent electric actually comes with a manual and battery pack options.

I've got the tommee tippee closer to nature manual set, find its really good, doesnt take to much hard work (you need to start your letdown by hand so you can see a drop on your nipple before you start pumping), fits my boobs really well, easy to use and clean (comes with it's own microwave sterilizer box) and for storage I use swisspers milk storage bags ( handy as they don't take up to much room in the fridge or freezer).

I have the manual Avent and it's great. I used it fulltime for 4 days then part time for another 4 and had no problems (and I have RSI).

I have (and am using) an Avent Isis manual, it's great!
I express usually 1-2 times a day and store the extra milk, but I have used it for all feeds for a few days when my nipples were cracked and painful. I used a Medela electric in the hospital, and have found my Avent manual to be just as efficient.
