Found out today that I have a thin uterine lining, so of course I'm straight on the computer trying to find out as much as I can!!

From what I've gathered so far, some of the causes can be low estrogen, lack of blood supply, tissue damage or clomid...

I have low blood pressure and quite a weak pulse so I'm guessing my cause could be lack of blood flow. Hence my miscarriages, I think.

Any experiences to share please?
Me -nearly 40: slightly reduced ovarian reserve
DP -nearly 42: great motility, borderline count

Hi Pickies, this is what I suspect is going on with my body. How did yours get diagnosed and did you get any recommendations on what to do?

I am seeing a chinese medicine and acupuncturist who is giving me a concoction of herbs to take and acupuncture to help.

I've also heard that long term use of the contraceptive pill is another cause of a thinned uterine lining.

My treatment before seeing a specialist next month is to eat as much warm, cooked food as possible, lots of blood building foods, quality red meat at least 2x a week, cooked beetroots, chai tea. I'm hoping this will do the trick but I have no idea how long it will take to get my body back to normal.

I hope this helps, not sure how it relates to your M/C's or if its connected...

Hi vineyardhoney, thanks for replying :)

I had my first appointment with Fertility Associates today and the specialist did an ultrasound to see how things are looking in there. He took one look at it and asked where I am in my cycle (3 days before AF) and said he'd expect the lining to be thicker. I THINK he said it looked to be about 4mm or something.

My AF is pretty light to medium for 3 days then spotting for the 4th day, which isn't ideal.

When I asked if there's anything I can do to increase the lining, all he said was there are drugs they can prescribe. But he wants my partner to get his second SA done and me to get an HSG done and when we return to discuss the results, he'll go over our options.

I'm doing exercises that get my pelvic area moving and when I remember, doing some self-massage on my tummy and using a wheat bag. I'm eating lots of red meat etc too. Hadn't heard of taking chai tea - funny, cos I spotted it in the supermarket tonight and was wondering about it.

I'm having acupuncture too (started about 6 weeks ago) but it's very painful treatment that involves 'stimulating' (turning the needles)!!! Ouch to say the least. I'm not having herbs because they cost $250 a fortnight...eek.

How long have you been doing acu? Have you noticed a difference in your cycles? I have actually had ewcm - VERY exciting!!

My acupuncturist believes my m/cs were due to lack of circulation, which makes sense to me, especially now I know I have a thin lining. I'm taking a break from ttc for 3 months (6 weeks to go), so we can hopefully see a bit of an improvement in my system. I'm glad I didn't try this cycle - my lining wouldn't have allowed a pregnancy to stick.

Will be interesting to see what your specialist says - keep in touch if you like :)

hey thanks so much for your reply Pickies :)

Where did you find out what exercises to do? Cinnamon is the key thing apparently in chai to take, but cloves are also excellent.

Wow your herbs are expensive, no wonder you aren't taking them! Mine are approx $30 a week. I've only had 2 sessions so far, 3rd on Monday (CD6). EWCM haha yipee! funny how we get excited about these things now! I have only had it on 1 or 2 months since coming of the BCP, hoping this month will be more promising.

I'm a bit nervous about the specialist appt, i will keep in touch, thanks :) when do you have your HSG booked in for? All the best, hopefully it wont be too painful.

Hi Pickies. Sounds like you and I have very similar stories. I also have a thin lining - same type of AF as you. I am with FA too. I had a Saline Infusion Scan done to check for scar tissue. They found polyps, which are being removed next week (if this cold holds off) and no scar tissue. The specialist said she will still check the lining and scar tissue while she is in there to get a cause for the thin lining. I also have progesterone issues. Apparently progesterone is responsible for forming and feeding the lining both post ov and until 12 weeks gestation, when the placenta takes over. The specialist is thinking of putting me on Clomid to regulate my cycle, and then progesterone pessaries post ov. I will have to test 14DPO and then, if BFN, go off the pessaries until next ov.

I didn't realise though that Clomid causes thin lining? I wonder why she would put me on them if they did that?
