QuoteReplyTopic: Elective C-Sections: Does it cost?? Posted: 24 January 2013 at 12:23pm
I've had 1 baby via emergency C-Section cos her heart rate lowered every time I pushed so OB just said lets not waste time we'll just do a c-section. She had said before hand that I might need one any way as I was "small" and my partner is 6'2" and was a 10 pounder.
Anywho we are trying for another baby now and wondered if I go through a midwife who looks after women who may need a c-section whether it will cost me to have one?
We don't really want to pay 4.5k going through the OB again although I would highly recommend it for 1st timers.
No it will be free. I had an emergency caesarian first time around and am under a midwife and set to have an elective caesar this time. She refers me to the local public hospital at 31 weeks where I meet the obstetric team to discuss it and then its booked in not long afterwards. No cost. Also once you have finished with the epidural/morphine etc post op (probably day 2) you can transfer to birthcare or whatever birth centre is in your area to finish your recovery away from the busy hospital. All the best for your journey.
