DD is almost 7 weeks and I'm still trying to go with the flow lol. However, I was sort of hoping by now she would be doing more than 2 (on occasion 3) hour stretches at night? Is this being unrealistic? I guess it doesn't help that I kept reading about the 7,8,9 hour stretches of my facebook group :-) She is fully breast fed, and probably at least half the time feeds to sleep. Sometimes she will wake for a feed (day or night) and go to sleep straight away on the boob. She isn't doing huge sleeps during the day either and has to usually be rocked (although on occasion has gone to sleep on her own!) So I don't think she has day and night mixed up.

I thought perhaps she needed more milk, but last night she was awake from 2-3am, and wasn't interested in another side, even after almost an hour. And I can't force her! :-)

I know every baby is different, and breast fed babies probably feed more, but can I hope for more sleep sometime soon? :-)

Every child is different, my first slept through the night, my second woke every 2 hours & this one wakes a couple of times.

To me I'd be seeing how to reduce that hour at night. Do you feed in bed or take her to another room? I find if I feed in bed bubs will drift back of where as if I take her to another room then she'll be awake for an hour.

She's only just so little, cuddle her close, let her sleep on you, I don't put any sleep training into place until 12 weeks & for me that has worked far easier than the battles I used to have with #1 to get her to sleep.

See my post topic about 'advice for sleep & settling' for the day sleeps but as far as night time try making sure you are having a high protein arvo tea - like a handful of almonds, egg smoothie, hummus & vegie stcks, boiled egg, porridge etc as this will make sure that the quality of the milk is keeping bubs fuller longer - or at least give you the energy to deal with it all! My baby is about the same age as yours an also fully breastfed & I have found this hugely helpful. DD1 was a catnapper & 2-3 hourly feeder 24/7!! But DD2 is 2-3 hourly feeder, in bed at 730. & first feed after that is usually around 1am with the next 3-5 hours later!

I honestly think you get what you get to a certain extent. Its not because your milk is no good or your doing anything wrong, she will sleep longer in time.

my first woke every 2 hours day and night for 8 months and my second slept through at 8 weeks. They were both in the same routine and both formula fed they just had and continue to have different personalities. Hang in there and remember to rest whenever you can, it does get easier
