My little one has just started getting hiccups, which I know is normal, but yesterday and today it seems like he has them nearly all the time! I didn't count, but yesterday he must have had at least 8 rounds, probably more like 10 or more rounds of hiccups, each lasting maybe 5-15 minutes. Does anyone know if this is normal?
I'm not panicking but am slightly worried it may stress him out. Should I be worried at all?

Yep, totally normal. They practice breathing and give themselves the hiccups (or so I was told). DD used to get them constantly also (up to 5-6 times a day), she still gets them very frequently now too!

I don't know if it's normal as such but JJ had hiccups what felt like constantly from around 32-36 weeks and it wasn't the harbinger of doom  (it didn't seem to stress him out at all - but if you're worried get your midwife to see if his heart rate goes up during a bout if he happens to get them during your next appointment).
It was cute to start off with but I got very sick of it, especially when I was trying to sleep at night!

This baby seems to have them almost permanently, I wouldn't worry about it.

same here - she had them at least 2-3 times every day, sometimes for 5-10 mins at a time. I also noticed she was very hiccuppy in the first few weeks! I found it comforting, as Natalie sometimes went ages without kicking etc, so it was nice to feel her hiccuping away!

hehe yep very normal, Caden was a serial hiccuper!! He would go for ages sometimes and it seemed like he always had them. He is the same even now lol
I loved feeling the hiccups it was so neat!
lmao, I can hear him hiccuping right now behind me, lol how random!

Yep, normal, C got them a gazillion times a day , I couldn't stand them ! so annoying, what am I supposed to do ? stand on my head ? it was this constant , tap tap tap .
Now when she gets them , I can laugh at her, till she starts whining at me to make them disappear .

Ella used to get them ALL the time in my tummy- I liked it as I used it as an indication of where her head was.
Also when she was a newborn she had the hiccups all the time as well- that got very annoying.

I find hiccups hilarious - always have. Even when baby gets them now I'm in fits of giggles - probably makes it worse. But I love it when baby's got hiccups (probably only cos I get a a good laugh!)

I thought it was very cute at first but then it just become annoying but at the same time reasurring(sp)...Because Im a multip mum in the last few weeks of my pregnancy my son was always moving from head down to breech & the only way I knew he had turned was because Id feel the hiccups near my ribs, If they wer'nt hiccups I was feeling near my ribs then My son was doing very rythmatic farts ... Hiccups are the norm I'd say...

I got DH to put his hand on my tummy and feel the hiccups last night - first time he's felt them - and he got all concerned. "Poor baby - can't you make it stop" he asked me.
I was cracking up!!

Thankfully he doesn't get them quite so bad now, maybe just a few times each day. And it is quite good to know his head is still down and where it should be!
