Hi ladies,

I listed this in a another thread (May babies 2012) but thought I might get a wider response in the general forum...

Question....hoping someone can give me some advice here (first time Mum). Is two weeks too young to move to her own room?
She squeaks & snorts & farts & makes so much noise while sleeping, plus with the waking for feeding & resettling, Daddy has moved out to the spare room a few times. Surely if we put a monitor in her room ( possibly one of those video feed ones) that would be ok?

Any thoughts for or against would be warmly appreciated!

Cheers

It is totally a personal decision there is no right or wrong time to move bub. If you are going to get a better nights sleep then moving bubs might be a good decision :).

I sleep through all the noises my bubs have made and they have all stayed in our room until they were too big for the bassinet between 4-5mths old.

My daughter was in her own room from birth as we didn't have a bassinet and there's no room for the cot in our room. We managed fine.

We were the same as fadeless. DS was in our room until 4mths old then moved into his own room. It was easier for me with the night feeding and I found the sleeping noises quite reassuring. DP moved into the spare room a couple of times too but that was his issue - I was the one doing all the work! Eventually he got over himself too and was able to sleep in with us both just fine.
In the colder weather there is no way I'd want to be traipsing around the house in the middle of the night, multiple times to feed and check on the baby.

I moved our girls into their own room at 9 weeks (3 weeks adjusted) which was when DH went back to work. We had Angelcare monitors.

(Current SIDS recommendation is 6 months.)

DS stayed in our room while he was in his bassinet, but DD only lasted three days before DH said either she or he had to go into her room! A monitor was just fine, and then sometimes I would stay in her room with her if need be.

We moved DS into his own room at 8 weeks, he was a noisy baby and it was summer so I didn't mind going across the hall to his room when need be.

We said DD would be moved to her own room earlier than that but we ended up buying a house soon after we had her and her room was filled with boxes etc so we kept her in our room until we moved (4.5 months) our bassinet was plenty big enough and it was soooo much easier getting up to feed her with her just being at the end of our bed She was a May baby too so having her in our room meant we had the heater and it was nice and toasty for all of us!

ETA - I don't really think there is a 'too soon' age, it's whatever works best for you and whatever you feel comfortable with

We moved both ours when they were that age due to how noisy they were and sometimes I think we would wake them by being noisy. It definately helped to have a bed in their rooms cause then I could sleep in there if needed.

It's such a personal decision. People in my due date group had bubs in their own room since they came home from the hospital. We said 6mths, but I doubt I'll be ready then.

both children were in their own rooms from about a week old.

they were both noisy sleepers and you only had to move in the bed and they woke up.

and if if we had keept them in our bedroom woudl have only been for 6 weeks as they out grew the bassinet we were given by then and there was no room in our bedroom for a cot

Apparently them in your own room lowers the SIDs risk as them hearing your breathing etc also helps them maintain a proper breathing rythm, i have no idea how! We kept E in our room for 4 months once she was home from the NICU, she was 3 months corrected age then i think? We had an angelcare monitor but never used the sensor as by then we were fully confident she was fine.

But yeah forgot to say, i know what you mean about how noisy they are, she kept us awake so much, who would of thought such little things would be so disruptive!

Like the others said, it's a personal decision. We had both girls in their own room after we got home from hospital, DD1 stayed there and slept like a log, DD2 started waking at 5.5months and now co-sleeps with me.
Having a bed in baby's room is a great idea though!

I moved my DS into his own room at about 10 days old. I just couldn't sleep with all the noises he made. I used a breathing baby monitor which made me feel better about it.
