Topic: baby / toddler carriers Posted: 10 June 2012 at 9:33pm |
We came to baby wearing quite late with DD and ended up with a sling that we didnt get along with (didnt like all the weight on one shoulder and never seemed to get DD looking comfy inside it) and a stretchy wrap which we loved. With #2 die in a few weeks, I am trying to look at other / more carriers. I'd love to get something that we can use with a newborn or with a toddler.
At the moment, I am torn between a Kozy carrier, a Storchenwiege and a Manduca. I think the first two are more favourites as I prefer the natural look to clips and buckles. But there are also other makes of Mei Tai (ABC) carriers and woven wraps. Hoppediz is one is saw on trade me, and Babyhawk Mei Tai. Does anyone have any experience with these other brands? I am asking mainly due to price, we dont have a lot of spare $$$ at the moment but really want to get something.
Any other comments or suggestions are also welcome. (I have done a search here, and there is heaps to read!)
Thanks.

I have a Hoppediz woven and it's fab. I didn't take long to soften and go floppy ( others brands can be stiff and a bit slippy for a while). And the price it great, you can have a few lol . I have had no problems with it
Eta with a wrap you get longer out of it because it goes from NB to toddler and beyond if you want. I've carried my 4 year old in it.
I have a Kozy too and I wish I'd gotten one Earlier. Super comfy especially for a long time and you can carry higher on your back, not just at the waist. Love my Kozy

I got my Kozy direct from the manufacturer in the US. Even with the postage it worked out cheaper than I could get from anywhere in NZ.

Me too ! And you have the pick of all the patterns. Although you could talk Helen from My Natural Baby, see if she could do something. She is lovely .

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. We went a little wild and have bought a Hoppediz woven wrap off trade me and a Kozy carrier from My Natural Baby. I cant wait for them to arrive so we can try them out, though with a baby due in a few weeks, I might not be the one using them!

The Hoppediz wrap is "timbuktu", a very colourful wrap. And the Kozy is a bright spotty one. We dont know what #2 is so wanted something bright but neutral. Which ones have you got Pudgy?
I'm excited about either DH or me being able to wear DD again, and of course for starting to wear #2 as soon as 'it' arrives.

My Hop is an Osaka, and the Kozy is a brown and natural zebra stripe as the little mr loves Zebras lol.
Yay for babywering it makes life so much easier, especially with 2. It meant I could actually cook dinner
