DS has started chewing his fingernails (and toenails!!!), they're REALLY short now I've tried using Stop & Grow but he couldn't care less about it and carries on as if it's not there. Any ideas on how I can get him to stop?!

Good luck RoSee, my hubby at almost 43 still bites his nails and said that his mum used every strategy known to try and get him to stop but he actually started liking the taste of all the crud they put on his nails.

The closest he came to stopping was when we worked together and I realised that it's a habit he does when thinking or under pressure. I'd give him pencil and paper and he'd start sketching and the nails grew but unfortunately we didn't work together for quite long enough to completely break the habit!

So perhaps figure out when he is doing it and why and offer him another way to deal with it? (Maybe a stress ball to squeeze during those times?)

Worm him. My son started biting his nails just before he turned two ... as well as biting bits off a wollen toy he slept with ... I randomly decided to worm him as I'd never done it, and realised a few months later that he'd stopped biting his nails.

Hmmm will try worming him tomorrow. I think it's an anxious thing though? He's bitten one so badly today it started bleeding Aside from wrapping all his fingers in cellotape/plasters I don't know what to do!
