What do you recommend for preventing stretch marks?
I have been using bio oil at night and tried another oil called nature baby stretch mark oil, but thought I would ask real experts on what actually works.
And when did you start applying (in what month of pg) and how frequent?

I would like to be able to wear my bikini one day again and as much as I will wear my stretch marks with pride, I just want to minimise the damage as much as poss

I used bio oil twice a day everyday for the last 3 or 4 months and still got horrific stretch marks! But then again I was HUGE with the twins My sisters all had singletons though and got stretch marks even with the creams. I'm a big skeptic of those creams I think it all comes down to your skin type and how you carry. I think some women are just born to have them and some luck out

I have to agree with lisa! I religiously used both bio-oil and cocoa butter lotion, and didn't escape them! Right up till the end of my pregnancy I thought I had escaped them, but as soon as Natalie arrived, there they all were! The lotions & potions can provide relief from itchy, stretchy skin, but I honestly think if you're going to get them, there's not much you can do about it. And atm, I doubt I will be wearing a bikini anytime soon Lol (but that's more due to the flabby mummy tummy rather than the stretch marks!)

I agree, I didn't get mine until I went overdue, I think it is just my skin type. Some people have stronger elastine than others, and unfortunately mine went 'snap' at the last minute !! Still, I moisturise, because they get really itchy, but only time really helps them fade away...

Did you know Bio Oil is Synthetic?? It may ot worry you- but it did me...

Im only in my first pregnancy, Im using Hema body oil.... it smells devine- its got some lavendar oil in it.

I heard that at the end of the day- if you are genetically suceptible to stretch marks, youll get them no matter what- stink huh.... but anything you can do to minimise the better right
Im oiling up AND crossing my fingers- perhaps I could try it at the same time!!!!

I've been using Palmers and I've found it to be good and helps with the itch and the sting of the tight skin. No stretch marks so far but we will see......

I used this lovely body butter that DF got for me for christmas. I didnt get any stretch marks, but thats because my mum didnt and my nana didnt, stretch marks are unfortunatley hireditary So if your mum got them then its likley you will get them(but also you might not).

I used Bio Oil aswell, its keeps the skin nice and soft and keeps the skin firm so that when your tummy shrinks back down it helps the skin go back to normal better(it did for me anyways)

i used bio oil during my first pregnancy which didnt work and afterwards used palmers cocoa butter for stretch marks which is GREAT - my stretchmarks faded quick as! Been using it this time round occasionally and they are nowhere near as dark or obvious and will definitly be continueing to use it after. Smells and feels great too!

I used all sorts but like others have said, I didn't get them until after 40 weeks grrrr.
I have been using the skin-tightening palmers stuff now and they're fading.
I have grown to quite like my mummy scars though

I used Aveeno shower and bath oil for itchy skin, and baby oil in the shower and then Aveeno moisturiser and almond oil after shower (yes I did smell knida funny, but worth it) I did not get any stretchmarks!!!! I have terrible ones on the tops of my thighs from puberty though, so I could easily have got them. My Mum and Nana both did not get them in pregnancy but my sister did????

If you do get them the best thing for them is to rub pure vit e oil into them out of the capsules. The blackmores vit e capsules from the supermarket are good.

My mum saw my stretch marks and couldnt believe it, she thinks its more of a heat rash making them worse, she didnt get stretch marks and neither did my nana, not sure about my dads mum though.

I agree with Kitkat, I didn't want to use anything synthetic with nasty chemicals. I've heard warnings about parabens, and saw that Palmers contained them so decided to stay away.
I've been using Earth Mama Angel Baby stretch mark oil, which contains natural oils, and its wonderful, smells nice, keeps my skin soft and I'm praying it helps with any stretchmarks that may arise. None have appeared yet! Although the oil is very expensive, and usually I spend very little on products for myself!
