Topic: Feta cheese & smoked salmon? Posted: 17 December 2008 at 4:32pm |
Is this ok? I really feel like a homemade pizza and was going to put feta, capers, salmon etc would it be ok if I brought and used straight from the vacum pack and cooked?

Feta cheese is ok and can be eaten within 2 days. Not sure about Smoked Salmon but if you're going to heat it up i'm sure it would be ok. HHmmmm sounds so yum!

My midwife tells me that pretty much anything is ok as long as it's heated up hot! Sounds delish, can I come round to your house for tea?

I've had feta heaps as I love my cheeses and wanted something to put in my salads. I didn't think anything smoked was safe?

I make my own feta and use pasteurised milk, so I feel safer. You can always check on the label.

it was great, I made sure the smoked salmon was properly cooked on (I baked the whole thing in the oven) yummmmyyyy.
Now I have to come up with what to eat tonight...... I'm having real strong food preferances doesn't make getting a varied diet easy.

The way the salmon is smoked makes the difference to me, I havn't eaten cold smoked salmon because it hasn't been *cooked* it prob is safe but its just one thing I havn't done during pregnancies BUT hot smoked salmon - esp when dad has done it fresh and it is still warm (also had trout the other day!!) I would eat till the cows come home!!!! Has been really tempting tho as dad works at a salmon farm and they get products some time to try etc and I havn't eaten most of them so will just have to wait till after babies!

Ooohhh girls you've just given me the best idea! I'm going to buy my own hot smoker (they have them cheap at Mitre10) and some of the organic salmon from my fish monger guy and have hot smoked salmon for new years! yummmm!
