Did you drink any coffee during your first trimester? If yes, how much?

No, I'm off all hot drinks this time. Last time I couldn't stand the smell of coffee and drank hot blackcurrant every morning instead.
ETA: isn't it safe to drink a couple of cups per day.

I have had all of two cups of decaf, as my GP / midwife / naturopath and acupuncturist have all advised against drinking any caffeinated beverages in the first trimester and I am happy to stick with that for the next 4 weeks or so.

I don't drink alot of coffee anyway, so probably had around 4 cups of instant coffee a week in the first trimester, but at least one cup of tea a day (usually 2). I did this with Luke as well.

Pearls Chai has caffiene in it too, about the same amount as tea (I think).
I love chai latte too, especially when it's really spicy (there's a coffee shop in the North Shore mall up the top near farmers that make the best chai lattes) but as I said earlier I'm totally off hot drinks, although I have found boiled water with a slice of fresh lemon stays down.

Ewww chai
I love coffee - just one a day but am trying to stop it. I didn't go off it or stop it with Elle - had 1 a day right through as my specialist at Fertility Associates said 1 or 2 a day was fine.
I did go off it & stopped it last time but that ended in miscarraige anyway!

If you're feeling icky with ms and early exhaustion I wouldn't stop coffee just yet, the withdrawal symptoms can be pretty horrid. Maybe when you are ready to stop you could cut down by going 1/2 and 1/2 decaf and normal for a few days then switch to decaf, it might keep you from suffering the worst of the withdrawal.

I didn't have any in my first trimester cos I totally went off it.
But recently I've been having maybe 4 or so cups per week and quite enjoying them again.

The chai lattes I usually get are just made with hot milk and a syrup which is quite sweet and not caffeinated

I've had one a day all the way through till now, will NOT stop em.. Sugar makes her way more hyper than a cup of coffee anyhow.

Coffee zaps your Iron levels. I'm down to about 1-2 cups per week. Replaced it with chocolate ice cream lol.

I stopped having them until 12 weeks and then had one a day with both my pregnancies. I loved my coffee - it was my treat.

I drank between 10 and 15 cups per day, with about 8 being double shots. I did cutdown as the pregnancy went on, but not until the last trimester as I hated the frequent toilet stops lol.

I think the "official" line is no more than 3 cups of coffee a day, but I have a self-imposed limit of 1 a day, at the most.
I used to drink 1 cup every morning, but went off coffee in my first trimester, and didn't get any withdrawal symptoms by just stopping. I think you'll only get those if you drink heaps. My midwife and doctor both told me at the start of my pregnancy that one cup a day is fine.

From medical textbooks, MOH guidelines, and what my midwife has told me, the maximum amount of caffeine you should have daily whilst pregnant is 300mg. Which is equivalent to 3.75 cans of Red Bull.
I find that Lucian goes hyper when I have a lot of sugar. But when it comes to caffeine, it doesn't have any effect on him.
I tried really hard to wean myself off caffeine at the beginning of the pregnancy, but the withdrawal symptoms were horrendous. My midwife pointed out the recommend guideline for caffeine consumption and just said everything in moderation.
So at the moment, I have about 2 to 3 glasses of diet coke (can't stand the stuff with sugar in it) or a can of red bull a day. Which is down from the 7 to 8 glasses of diet coke and 2 cans of diet red bull I use to have pre-pregnancy!

I drank one a day with Elle then when she was born I went back to my double shot each day. It didn't effect her at all. Even if I had it at 5pm she would still sleep well at night.
Funny little petal likes coffee though :) Leave the dregs of a cup sitting somewhere and she will help herself

I dont like coffee but love coke and Tea. I'd read that 3 caffinated drinks a day is ok. I totally go off tea in the first 3 months but sonce then I've drank decaf tea and have the odd glass of coke a day or every other day.

I went off coffee during 1st trimester and picked it up again 2nd and 3rd. Life's just not the same without it ... *sigh*

I had 1 flat white every morning from the day I had my Egg transfer and have kept on doing that all the way through my pregnancy. Didn't make me feel sick and if I didn't have it I would find myself getting grumpy. My friend had a V addiction and although she cut back while she was pregnant it didn't have an effect on her or baby. She had about 3 a week.
I'v been even naughty to have the odd shandy over the past few weeks with the weather getting warmer. Its still more lemonade than beer and I have either a steinlarger pure or Heineken shandy and apart from the fact it tastes really good it was the only thing that would quench my thurst.
