Ava has HORRIBLE cradle cap which is red and gooey and extends down to her eyes and ears. The dr prescribed hydrocortisone cream, but im scared to use it because of it being a steroid. Has anyone else used it on their babies and did it work? Shes only 12 weeks old as well..

Denny, someone told me about using pawpaw cream. I'm not sure where to get it - maybe a health store. Have you tried it or heard of it? I've heard that it works wonders for things like cradle cap. Having said that, if it's major it might not be powerful enough.

Yep I used it for Laurens eczema from very early on. Only use a tiny tiny bit though, apply a very thin layer is all you will need and that should be enough to clear it up in a few days.

I am guessing it is only 1%, thats normally what they prescribe for babies?

I have never actually used it for cradle cap though as my girl never got it!

My boy had horrible awful cradle cap that lasted for ages and only cleared up when I used hydrocortizone. I tried everything else first and nothing did anything! And he hasn't had it back since then. Yes use it sparingly and only use it if you feel comfortable with it. But it's the only thing that cleared it up for my boy (I think I only applyed it once or twice).

I"ve never used it for cradle cap but I do put it on my girls exczema. I haven't used it on lil miss coz she hasn't needed it but Mercedes and Maya both have it fairly often.

Like the others have said, you only need a really thin layer. You can also get .5% which isn't as strong as the 1%.

If the doc perscribed it then I wouldnt worry, you only need to use a tenny tiny amount of it.

Our doc gave us a script for it for Cadens ezcema when it gets quite red and he said just use it in tiny amounts.

I did for Harry's, yep a thin layer wherever the cradle cap was bad (pretty much all over his head). I think it only took one application though so don't worry about it too much. I'd be hesitant to use it on her face though.
