i am breast feeding and i have to go to a funeral tomorrow and my mum is looking after bubs and i cant get enough milk to put away for her to feed bubs so is it ok to use formula as well???????

Yes, bubs will be fine with formula. I'd just buy a couple of singles sachets and make sure your mum doesn't mix the formula with the EBM.

Just out of interest, why can't you mix EBM and formula? When I was in hospital after the birth the MW told me to do this (granted it was only 2ml of EBM that took 30 min to express  ).

You can mix formula and EBM as long as they are the same temperature (ie. both from the fridge or both at room temp). Oh and as long as the formula is made up with water of course lol, you can't add the powder to EBM!

And lol Flissty, I remember the agony of trying to express 3 whole ml on a syringe for Sienna at Birthcare. Two weeks later I was expressing 2l a day

I'm a little confused, I hope this isn't considered 'hijacking' though... sorry if it is!
In emergency situations if you are worried you won't be around to feed, a single sachet of forumla is okay, just mix it with water not milk right?

That's correct.
But if you have some EBM ,but not enough, then you can mix it with prepared formula, provided it's at the same temperature.
