Bed Rest ideas

Oh, you poor thing.  I'd be going batty too.

You could:

• Ask someone to get you some supplies from spotlight so you can do some wallart for baby's room. 
• Start knitting. 
• Do crosswords and sudoku.
• Sew your own MCNs/baby quilt/play mat.

DFs cousin had pre eclampsia, sadly they found hers too late , at 23 weeks and baby was stillborn , so i imagine the bedrest is a good thing ...but yeah ! id be pretty bored too !
Does bedrest mean your expected to stay in bed all that time ?
If you are able to get up and about , even if its just in your own house that would be slightly better, but still...the walls of your house can feel slightly claustrophobic after a while....am racking my brain for ideas you could do ...I think you need to peer pressure someone to come over nearly everyday (a different friend each day ) to entertain you ! which of course will be quite difficult .
...Or maybe someone should get you an xbox or something for an early christmas present

Shannon, you can try out lots of different crafts, making things for baby... knitting is just one, I do a bit of crochet myself (I'm a bit of a nana for a 30 yr-old!). I see Spotlight has already been suggested, that's a great place for getting wooden letters (for spelling baby's name etc) and such like, if you have anyone who can get into Dunedin for you. Unless Alexandra has a Spotlight or something similar?

Shannon, what kind of stuff are you into?

You could:
- sort out all your digital photos
- scrapbook or make photobooks of all your pics
- start writing a blog or the Great Novel
- do lots of crosswords/sudoku/other word games online (are you on facebook? time to start having fun with all those applications!)
- read books about anything you've ever been interested in
- take up a new craft (I like the knitting idea too)
- start writing real letters and sending them by snail mail to all your friends and family
- get really friendly with youtube, there's so much funny stuff on there to while away an hour or so a day

I'm not on bedrest but I'm not working and since I've been pregnant I somehow manage to "waste" about 2 hours every morning (or more) just watching the news channel, answering emails and catching up on facebook goss and seeing what's happening on OhBaby and a couple of other online forums, reading through most of the headline news on Stuff .... it's a nice easy start to my day

OMG and here I was thinking that 5 weeks of it was bad enough. Please don't do what I did when I got it with my first and didn't listen and went out all the time and got even more sick.

Second time around I got people to get me stuff to do, heaps of books and puzzles to do. I actually enjoyed doing the 2000 odd piece puzzles.

when i was off with bed rest for my first pregnancy i played a lot of CIV... got a good foot stool under the computer desk and hung out there. also had visitors over - they had to bring morning tea tho. read a lot and watched tv. it is boring but it doesnt last forever and before you know it you are wishing you could hang out in bed all day!!!

What about taking up some kind of study? Maybe some correspondence like a language or a short course in story writing or if there is anything you have always been interested in learning about but have never had the time? There are heaps of free online courses you could take and I think UCOL do online learning as well. At least if you're working to deadlines or on an assignment you might get a feeling on accomplishment rather than just killing time.

When I was on bedrest at home I played lots and lots of playstation, then when I was on bedrest in the hospital, my sister loaned me her PSP - yeah bit of a gaming freak but it helped pass the time as they're so addictive. But since bubs arrived I've been far too busy to play games, or to get onto our wedding thank you cards (married Jan 08 - bubs arrived early in Feb 08!) and I've got no idea when I'll get onto Christmas stuff. I've even got OE photos, wedding photos and baby photos to sort out too.... DH suggested sending you our wedding thank you cards to do if you're interested, and maybe you could do our christmas cards while you're at it to....LOL Nah, seriously, I hope you do find something to pass the time. Having pre-eclampsia really isn't fun.

Okay now is the time to watch ENTIRE TV series on DVD. I suggest Sex in the City and 6 feet under..... I spent hours watching both of these...

Also how about designing some nice "thanks for the baby gift" cards.... you could almost write them.

Oh and if you have done your Xmas cards already you could hire your services out to do other peoples... or you could do my next 40 odd posts so I can get back into the baby bellies section :-)

Thats the same ob that i will be seeing when she comes to dunstan i seen the one at dunedin but she has refered me so less traveling.
