Topic: Travelling with formula? Posted: 07 October 2008 at 12:55pm |
Ems and I are off to visit friends in the South Island for a few days. My questions is, is it okay to measure out the amount of formula I will need for those few days (Ems is BF but has a bottle of formula in the evenings), put it in a tupperware container and take on my checked luggage? Will it travel okay? What do you other FF mums and dads do when travelling out of town for a few days? Suggestions/recommendations would be great, thanks.

I usually take a tin and the avent formula container thing. Then just take that out with us but leave the tin wherever we are staying.

Staying 5 nights so only going to need 5 feeds so don't want to take a whole tin down. Using the Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottle (just have the one for the one feed a day) so don't want to have to take extra bottles and bits and bobs. Have used the Karicare sachets before and I did think about just taking some of those down with me, but currently using Farleys formula which Ems is now used to and it comes in a tin only (they don't do sachets). Would it be okay to swap her back to a different formula for a few days i.e. would it upset her tummy or anything?

If i go out I put 4 scoops of formula in a Mini Glad bag (the teeny weeny ones) and also pack a clean spoon too.

kaiz231 - reading your post has given me an idea! I don't have the glad bags, but rather than go out and buy some, I've just remembered I have swisspers 20 breast milk storage bags in the cupboard waiting to be used. They will be perfect. I'll measure out 4 scoops for each feed into a bag and take those down with me. Thanks

I would use glad bags also as I find our tommee tippee dispenser thing isn't airtight and the powder goes funny after a day or so.
