Topic: OVERDUE!!!!!! Ideas? Posted: 08 September 2008 at 11:07am |
Well I'm overdue.
Ok only by a day lol but I'm having a really tough time!
Anyone else out there overdue? How'd you cope?
I'm not necessarily asking for induction methods, I've tried the ones I can manage (yep sex just ain't happening lol) but how did you cope being so large and uncomfortable...and having everyone else moaning about how long it's taking, and all the pressure...arggghhh!!!

yeah thats what i hated about being overdue everyone telling you to hurry up....like your in control of the situation.
Baby will come when she's ready...just try and stay relaxed and ignore what others are saying....in the end i was like i will ring you when things start happening otherwise shh......
Sorry not really much help but good luck with everything.

I was only 3 days over but it felt like forever.
I did heaps of walking(although it was slightly warmer then) I also set my self a few mini tasks like building shelves for my bedroom (that DH and and my dad did while I supervised) The focus then became on something else and I wanted that finished before the baby came so I wasnt in too much of a hurry. Even things like sorting a drawer or any last minute thing thats probably not going to be done for a while after the baby is born. Although dont start something you may not be able to finish just incase you cant
Resting Up!!!! you probably wont be able to the same for a while now, so make the most of it.
I kno its horrible waiting, but that babies not going to stay inside there forever!
Good luck and I hope that baby doesnt leave you waiting too long

Resting (I was ordered to), spending time just me and DH (never the same again), watching DVD's and reading books. You'll be surprised how long it takes to watch a DVD or read a book when you have a newborn (I haven't opened a book since 40+3, luckily I finished one a few hours before DS arrived!)

Ditto what Emz said. I ended up 15 days over and was going mad. I tried everything except castor oil and nothing worked. It's a horrible frustrating time - you have my sympathy!

hmmm , people telling you to hurry up , heres what i suggest , get all your favourite books, all your favourite movies , allll your favourite food , etc etc, and go hide somewhere without a phone , and hibernate from everyone til baby is ready
ORRR next time they say "when are you going to have her?" pop a water balloon between your legs, and say "now !" ...heh.
Wishful thinking !
i do sympathise, i went 8 days over ,tis a bi*ch, by the time your due, most women are wayyyyy over the whole pregnancy lark

I feel for you, I never went over (both came early) but even then I hated waiting for the induction date.
If the txts get annoying turn your phone off.

Hi there, I definately know how your feeling as I have gone overdue with all my 6 girls. Here is a little something for you to read....I got this info from this website...www.mother-care.ca/induction_mth.htm
First, RELAX! Forget due dates. Due dates are simply an educated guess, did you know only 4% of births happen on the "due date"? Your anxiety is pumping adrenaline at high levels into your system and this could very well be further delaying any progress or starting. Concentrate on the wonderful feeling of the baby's movements inside you and how productive labor will be when it does begin. I know this all sounds a bit repetitive...however, the more you struggle to initiate labor the more your body becomes stressed and a body that is stressed will not start labor simply as a built in natural defensive response to perceived "danger". Even though you might not be in actual danger, your stress levels tell the body that danger is imminent and this further delays the natural release of oxytocin into your system. Go take a warm bath, eat a favorite meal, drink plenty of fluids and let nature take its course. The best things in life take their time.
It sounds easier said than done I know coz I've tried it and you'd think I would have learned after my 2nd and 3rd induction..No harm in giving it a try...I definately know what it's like to become anxious about going into labour...
Best of luck hun, Your little girl is not far away...

Im with flissty! I went 14 days over, tried most things and nothing worked!!
I truley believe babys will come when thyey ready even though it SUCKS waiting, its soooo worth the wait
I had syatic nerve pain and very painfeul cervix pain and I was in tears and total agony every night for the last month of my pregnancy. but as soon as I layed eyes on my little boy I knew it was worth it.
And i got SICK to death of ppl saying "Are you STILL pregnant and "Oh you havent dropped have you" I was ready to punch someone! lol
I feel for you as well, I have my fingers crossed that you dont go 2 weeks over like us!

hey guys thanks for the tips...keep them coming!
i sent a (polite) txt to my well-intentioned friends and family, saying I was on strike lol and while i do appreciate that they care and their txts, to please stop txting and asking if the baby was here. I said thy can txt to see how I am or if they wanna pop round or something, but to not txt asking about the baby. hopefully they listen!
I'm not too worried that shes running late. It's everyone else!!!

Got to remember that your EDD is your ESTIMATED due date and that bub will come when she's good and ready!
HA says me when I was 3 days over, into labour early on day 4 and Keziah wasn't born until day 6
Get some YOU time while you can because once she's here that'll all be a thing of the past

We also tried everything and I went 10 days over. I went into labour the day that I didn't think about it. I was booked in for an induction on the Wednesday and went into labour the previous Sunday night. Good luck - hope you don't have to wait too long.

My DD arrived on her Due Date...LOL...Well docs took her out after 48 hours of labour!!
What started my contractions was a Stretch and sweep thing my MW did three days before that and the long Long walk DH and I went to the couple of days before that.....because just like you my DH refused to have you know.... I was huge and way to uncomfy anyways...LOL
I agree with others just chill as Due dates are not correct take a week here or there .....Just think she is happy in there so let her be......you will miss her in there once she is out (Well I did.. ).
Good luck with the next step, when ever that is. Cant wait to see your little miss!

Usually being threatened with induction seems to do the trick. Our AN class had about 5 overdues - 3 came once they'd been threatened; July 08 was about the same.

Ahh yes the threat of induction, i was booked into be induced on the 24th June and my waters broke 21st June, so the little monkey waited until he was gonna be kicked out and came on his own! lol
ETA- But then he still had to be born via emergency c section cos he was stuck and wasnt gonna come out naturally! he is as stubborn as his mother! lol

I went 4 days over with one of mine. My doctor did a sweep one afternoon and she arrived that night.
After a nice swim at the hotpools! I was having cramps in the arvo but wanted a swim lol. Gee I was only 20, preg with 2nd baby...and hotpools were in opposite direction to hospital and about 40 mins away from the hospital! I look back now and wonder what on earth I was thinking lol. Seemed to work though, got to hospital and she arrived an hour later!
So I don't really have any new suggestions for you! Good luck, I hope baby arrives today!
