Hi, just thought I'd get a forum going for wellingtonian mothers to be! I know no one in Wellington that's due to have a bub so would really love to get to know other mums locally and also swap tricks and tips.

I'm 32, coming up to 9 weeks in, roughly due 17th April 2009. First baby so we are excited but freaking out too!

Finding it hard to eat anything at the moment. The only foods that I feel like are white! Potatoes, pasta, rice & bread. Weird aye! Maybe it's the carbs and starch thing. Totally gone off meat except a dry quarter pounder - no cheese and no sauce. I'm meeting a friend in petone today for lunch so I'm sure it will be hot chips for lunch only! ha ha

Hi Kelly.
Not sure if you mean 08 or 09?? But I'm 14 weeks and due the 12th March 09. This is our first baby too. I'm not fussy on food anymore. Any food is good. But I use to only eat marmite on toast for about 3 weeks.

I hope all goes well and good on you for starting the forum.

I'm due mid May and am in Wellington. Would be great to have some other Wellywood mums to meet up with!   I haven't had any ms (yet) but have had some rather yuck headaches, which I read were also common in early pg....

I'm in Wellington too. Due around 29 April. Was very lucky to get a midwife due to the crazy shortage - a friend of mine is due in Dec and has to use the midwife clinic at the hospital for check ups etc. There is never the same person on duty and she doesn't know who will be delivering bub. A bit scary!!

Gosh, there are a lot of us April mums-to-be that live in Welly! I live in the Hutt.

The midwife shortage does suck. I've heard a lot of midwives are only taking returned mums - which doesn't really help first time mums who really need the support of a mw

Hi! I'm 14 weeks and due March 13th 09 I'm 25 and live in Welly! I'm from the Hutt, but live in Newlands at the mo. Although our lease finishes in November so we'll be moving to somewhere else, as yet undecided!
Oh and I have an obstetrician. I rang a few midwives but couldn't get anyone (before I was even 4 weeks preg!) so just decided to go with an Ob who is a friend of a friend so I could get in there

Hope everyone feels well!

I got a midwife easily but then again I'm out in porirua/whitby area - there seems to be heaps out this way. I met with my midwife on Friday and she was lovely but what a sh*thole (excuse my language!) of a area it's in! I felt like crying as I was driving there.

Yep, I get constant headaches too and also feel really dizzy and tired. I've had 24 hours of not feeling nausea which feels weird!

I'm just over 9 weeks now and I'm sure you are all like me and can't wait to get over 12 weeks!

I can't wait to start showing as it will make it more real to us. We are still in la la land over it. Does anyone else feel like it's just not real??

i you have a look at any of the tickers you like you can just click on it and it will take you to the site where you can add your own details into it. then in the top right corner of you OhBaby page that you are on it will have 'profile' go into their and add it in to the section near the bottom below avatar (cant remember what its called)

on the thing about wanting to show so its real im sure im showing a little. i even got DH to take photos to make sure im not losing it but im pretty sure my bely didnt look like that before

We decided to go with a OB as well. We live up the coast in Paraparaumu and they have MW up there who I will use after bubs is born.
No more MS for me. Just getting bigger and bigger.

I'm still feeling queasy every second day, which is odd! But haven't vomited at all the entire time so I'm grateful for that at least! And wow I'm definitely getting bigger too. Was planning to tell my boss yesterday but didn't... maybe today

I'm in and from the Hutt but will be moving out Tawa way soon.  I didn't have any trouble getting a mw out that way although I haven't met mine yet so watch this space lol. There seemed to be lots though?

I think my ms might have just started today. I was hoping to not get any this time around but am taking it as a great sign of a sticky bubba!

MS certainly made me feel better and made it real. I didn't feel sick Sunday & Monday but thankfully feel queezy again today so I can stop worrying!

Hiya,

I am in Welly too and having my first baby late May. Just found out (officially) the other day, so yippee.

Bummer about the MW shortage. We don't know where to start to find someone. Niether of us are from Welly, so we don't even have any recommendations.

Does anyone have advice on where to start, or should we just start working down the list and take the first person who's free!

Hey Margs, I live in Paraparaumu too. I'm using an obs in Lower Hutt at the Boulcott Centre, but I need to find a local midwife for visits after baby comes. I rang one who was recommended to me but she hadn't called me back. Do you have any recommendations?
