Topic: Update on early pg cramps etc... Posted: 10 September 2008 at 1:32pm |
Hi everyone
Thank you all so much for your support and reassuring replies over the last 24 hours. It has been a scary time made so much worse by the sudden loss of DP's brother.
An update on the cramps though:
I have just left A&E where I have been since early-ish this morning. The cramps got so bad this morning I could have sworn I was about to start bleding and miscarry.
To cut a long story short, at this stage I am fine and bubs is fine. Naughty, but fine!
My HCG levels have more than tripled in the last 48 hours and as there is no bleeding and actually no tenderness in my tummy when it's pressed, the Dr's think at this stage the pg is 'viable'. So that is good news at a very very dark time.
Dr advised for my peace of mind to re-check HCG levels in a few days or a week and that he would get an early scan referral sent out to me next week so I can get to see bubba sooner rather thanlater. They were all very kind and didn't think badly of this crazy lady (who genuinally was in a lot of pain! ).
I am still tender and having intermittent cramping and appreciate bubs and I are not out of the woods yet but at this stage he/she is hanging on for dear life and so I have to hang onto that.

That's good news - though I am really sorry to hear about your DP's brother.
It will be a stressful and sad time for you, so make sure you get plenty of rest and cuddles so that this little bean can stick.
My thoughts are with you and I will keep my fingers crossed. xx

Oh Emmecat
I'm so sorry to hear about DPs brother. What a tough time you've been having!
Great news about your hcg levels though!! And how awesome that you are getting an early scan I really hope you are feeling better soon, and that this baby most definitely stays put! Sounds like he or she was just getting comfy
Take care xx

Glad to hear everything is going ok If it makes you feel any better, I had terrible cramping at that stage of the pregnancy with no bleeding at all. You did the right thing by going to A&E, considering you have suffered a miscarriage before.
So sorry to hear about DP brother

Good to hear that you went to A&E and that things are still okay. The fact that your hcg levels have more than tripled in the last 48 hours is definitely a positive sign Also good that the Doc is giving you an early scan referral too. I was sent for an early scan at 7 weeks and it was definitely reassuring to see the little squirt on screen and to see her tiny heart thumping away. I'm sure you will be just as reassured too at the early scan.
Still thinking positive thoughts for you Emmecat

You poor thing, what an awful stressful time for you. I'm glad to hear everything is still ok with the baby, I was scared about what you were about to write for a minute. Yay for the tripled HCG levels :)
So sorry to hear about DP's brother though that's so sad.

Hi all
Thank you so much for your good wishes, I will tell DP as he is so upset and grieving. It is just a horrble time right now but yes it seems for now anyway we have a sticky weebean who is just trying to bury nice and deep (I hope!).
We have a very early scan tomorrow- honestly not expcecting to see that much but with any luck we can at least conclude there is a viable pg there. I think there is and so do the Doctors but a scan will help. I wasn't expecting it so soon. Have been so impressed and touched by the excellent service I have had by the public health system so far! I am definately more reassured although it was hard tonight sitting with my MIL, she was so upset adn I could just feel the cramping starting again...
It seems to me my wee bean is highly attuned already to his/her Mummies feelings. Hmmm I am gonna have to really watch the stress levels and yes, it will be feet up and resting as practical as possible with a job, study and 5 year old lol. But seriously I will be dropping all non essentials and giving this bubba every fighting chance.

Good luck for tomorrow, you probably won't see much just a little blob, but they will be able to tell if it looks the right size for your dates and also if it's in the right place. i.e uterus not tube.
Take care as much as possible, would say don't stress but think that is impossible with all you have going on.
