Topic: Please help me! Nappy Rash?? **Graphic** Posted: 29 August 2008 at 1:37pm |
Hey guys,
Long time no post from me, but I just wanted to get a few opinions and help from the wealth of knowledge that is OHbaby!
Eden's broken out in this rash over the last two days, and I've been using the anti bacterial Bepanthen and SudoCream on her, but it's not helping at all...
Now this is what my poor wee thing is having to cope with at the moment:
I've got an appointment at thte doctors at 4:15, but she's in so much pain... Just crying and crying And there are about 3 or four open sores that are weeping like noone's business.
She's been having nappy off time like 3-4 times a day for as long as she's having play time (normally an hour or so at a time) But it's not helping them dry out AT ALL.
Please help... Is there anything I can be doing to help ease the discomfort between now and the doctors appt?
And does it look like standard nappy rash... I don't think it does, but then again, I don't know much about the stuff as we've never had an issue with it 'til now.
Any advice much appreciated.
TIA

Oh my gosh, poor Eden I can't help with what it is - hopefully the doc can help you there. Is she sitting up yet? Maybe let her sit/play in a really shallow bath? Might help ease the pain a little

Poor Eden! That doent look pleasant at all!
Keira used to get it occasionally and we tried just about everything, eventually it would go away but have no idea what worked in the end I think i had a bit of tea tree oil healing balm which i used on cuts and scratches which helped a wee bit.
Hope the Dr can help this afternoon.
Sorry I dont think Im much help, just hope it gets better quickly.

Oooo it looks like thrush thats is maybe a bit infected. Not a lot you can do until you get some special cream. Keep up with the no nappy time and put the bepanthen or sudocream on just to try and stop her wees stinging the rash. You could try giving her some pamol or something to ease the pain a bit. Maybe even a warm (not hot) bath with a wee bit of baking soda.
Do you use cloth nappies? If so maybe put them through a hot wash to kill the bugs and maybe use disposables until its cleared up.
Poor wee Eden

I've tried shallow baths with oatmeal and baking soda (separate occassions) but she screams blue murder
Ugh. I feel so bad that this has happened, like it's somehow my fault. She gets changed after every feed, so about 5-6 times a day, so it's not asthough she sits in a wet/dirty nappy for hours on end
Poor, wee mite
Ugh...

It's totally not your fault! I posted a similar post with pic of my Sienna a few months back when she had chronic nappy rash, it's just one of those unfortunate things.
That blister on the left hand side (my right, her left) looks so nasty, poor wee thing! Hope the doc can help.
Maybe something like Pimafucort which is an antibiotic/antifungal + hydrocortisone might do the trick but you can only get it on script.

Not your fault at all, Quinn used to get a nappy rash exactly like that almost instantly after he had pooed in his nappy and I used to have to hold him down to clean it. The only thing that worked for us was Micreme H from the doctor. On the bright side, the micreme used to clear it up very quickly, hope the doctor can help out!

Yeah I thought I had some floating around somewhere from when we had it last prescribed for her eczema, but the tube was empty... Bloody typical.
I'm eagerly watching the clock wanting 4:15 to come along... And it's just started raining... This is going to be a fun walk

Ella got one like that when she was really little. It came up just like that in awful blisters and changing her was just torture!
We were prescribed the Pimafucort, as Emma mentioned and it went away within about a week.
I also stopped wiping her altogether and washed her down in a tepid shower instead as it seemed less irritating on her poor bot.

What we had to do with Josh's (whos was heaps worse that that) was put on a cream from the chemist and then a silicone cream over top of it so that the cream did its job healing and the silicone stopped the wees (which is probably making it worse) getting in and that is what hurts when she does wees the acid stings and that hurts.

Yeah, I've got a giant tub of the silicon cream which I'm slapping on to waterproof the area.
Thanks so much for all your advice thus far.
Keep it coming!

Oh poor wee Eden (and poor mummy too). The baking soda stings like crazy initially but it does help. Maybe try diluting it even further and sitting her in it or dip your bum cloths in it before you wipe her bottom at nappy changes.
Lots and lots and lots of no nappy time and Micreme H always helped Michaela and when I was stuck without a tube of micreme I used to slather manuka honey onto her bottom (sounds strange but it's amazing - it really works!)

awww hun it's soooo not your fault!!! jack had those blistery sores for a while too and the only thing that cleared it up was prescription cream and loads of barrier cream on top.
is she teething at the moment? charli also had the same nasty rash, didn't seem to go away no matter what i did
i agree with rach, if your using cloth nappies, put them through a hot wash to kill off the bugs. use sposies for a while, it really does help and then you can slap on heaps of cream without too much worry
4.15 is not too far away now.........poor wee girl!

Arrrrrrgh
[insert a gazillion profanities here]
I just busted my ass walking in the cold wind, with a crying, uncomfortable baby, to get to the doctors 10 MINUTES BEFORE my appointment time, only to be told......
"Oh, I'm sorry, he's gone for the day"
Are you seriously kidding me right now!
So I've just gotten home, I wanna cry. I rang Mum to see if she could offer any advice or help out at all, as we have no petrol to get into town to go to the After Hours there, and I refuse to go to Kenepuru after the amount of times they've screwed us round. She can't come to the party as she's busy... Fair enough.
But then she had the audacity to ask why I allowed it to get that bad! Ugh!
Oh yes, I apologise, I should've preempted that it was going to turn into that overnight, despite my efforts. OK.
Faaaaaark.
So the wee one is currently crying on the floor with her pants off and I'm here having a vent before I explode. I am so annoyed right now.
Unless I can find a way to get into Wellington, then I have to wait until Monday! Arrrrgh

The only reason I care so much that she asked why I let it get that bad, is because I feel as though I'm constantly being judged an/or questioned as a mother because of my age. Mum wasn't at all happy when I fell pregnant and loves reminding me "it's not all fun and games and cutesy pie babies. It's hard work... I did tell you that at the start"
Ugh, sorry. Just reeeeeally not in a good frame of mind at the moment.
Feel like nothing's working out for me... Gah!

Oh Serenity you poor poor thing, and poor Eden! at the doc and your Mum, it's a shame she can't see that picture or she'd be dropping whatever she's busy with. It's totally not your fault, and sounds like you're doing all the right things. I hope you guys have an ok night and can see someone about it tomorrow.
