Topic: OMG......BFP.......Help!!! Posted: 03 August 2008 at 8:51pm |
Well........ I've been feeling a bit "off" for at least a week now (maybe 2) with constant nausea and the occasional AF type cramps and tingly bbs.
I stopped taking the BCP 1 1/2 months ago approx and haven't had a proper AF yet, been waiting for it to arrive.
I had a bit of a dizzy spell today so decided to do a test and what do you know....... BFP!!!!! Let's just say DH and I are rather stunned, we didn't expect this quite yet!!
How will the dr be able to tell how far along I am?

Hi there - and a BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!!
They usually take the date from the first date of your last AF and count from there.
It's a shock when it happens so quick huh - same with me. I'd been on CP for 18 years - and I'm in my mid-30's, so I thought I'd have at least a year of fun TTC - but no *BANG* straight away almost!! lol

If you've not had normal cycles then they might do an early dating scan to find out how far along you are - I know that's what my sister had as her periods were all over the place after having her last baby.
Congratulations too! We were rather stunned at our positive test too so know how you feel!

Congratulations Lisa. What great news
Your Dr will probably send you off for a dating scan if you dont know when your LMP was.

I had a dating scan cause DH was out of the country when I had my last period (sorry dont know all the short names for these things). I know it sounds bad too lol. But I knew exactly how far along I was and I was right. A week after he came back woops.
I wasnt what we were expecting either, it was a big shock to us.

Dagster I was in a similar situation except I found out overseas. Wasn't expected, but not entirely unexpected either as I had been slack with the pill :)
I had an early dating scan, and I loved it because despite struggling to see anything (I was just inder 6wks) it was confirmation that it was for real.
Congratulations!!
