Topic: first time ttc Posted: 29 July 2008 at 6:36pm |
Hi. We are officially ttc for the first time this month! So exciting and scary and I need to share with someone. Cripes, part of me hopes it doesn't happen straight away (so I have time to get used to the idea)and part of me hopes it will happen first go (no ttc stress).
My sister freaked me out though. She said today that it took her 3mths for her peiod to come back after stopping the pill. I am hoping mine doesn't take that long. I know it is a common question but what about everyone else? Is there some sort of percentage out there on when you can expect to get it back? Does anyone have any experience with the pills Estelle 35 or Diane 35 and ttc?
I guess everyone is different and what I would really like is a crystal ball . That way I could plan- I am such a planner and I have no control over this!

Hello and welcome, my first cycle was 35 days but everyone is different. We have been trying for 5 months and have had no joy. TTC is really hard but try to stay strong and hang in there. Yip and of course there are the lucky ones who get pg first go.

Hello Gazelle and welcome to the TTC journey.
My first cycle was 31 days and has been anywhere from 31-40 days.
I am a control freak... I hate that I can not control getting pregnant... so I do everything I can so I feel some control over the situation.
Hope your not here to long hun

Gosh Gazelle you sound exactly like me 2yrs ago! I hated that I didn't know how long TTC would take. I just did my best not to think about it. No one know we were TTC so there was no one to talk to about it but DH and we didn't talk that much so for me it was easier not talking as I didn't think/dwell on it too much. Luckily for me we got pg in our 2nd mth off BCP.
Good luck on your journey!

Welcome to OB Gazelle. My first Cycle off the pill was just 18 days, so it can vary hugely. As hard as it is just try and go with it. Good luck

Hi, thanks guys. I know everyone is different and I know none of you will be able to tell me how long this whole thing will take. Glad that there are others that feel the same way re having no control.
I feel reassured that you guys seemed to have got your periods back relatively quickly. I am not expecting 28 days so as long as it doesn't take months I will be ok! It is weird not being on the pill. I haven't been that way for over 7 years! I am wondering will be periods be heavier and more painful? When will they arrive and will I be caught out (the pill is co convenient like that) and how will it affect my skin, weight etc etc. Only time will tell huh?
Look forward to sharing some happy news with you guys soon. (positive thinking:)

My periods were actually lighter with less cramping! Go figure that, especially considering I was originally put on the pill at 18 for severe period pain and heavy bleeding.
Anyhoo, my first few cycles were about 1.5 days long and light to spotting. They have gradually built up to 3-4 days medium to light and I didnt have cramping until after my mc so dont freak out too much!

I was the same my periods were better off the pill (ive just gone back on and gone on a pill i forgot i had problems with so back to 2 week long periods for me until i get my ass back to the docs grr) Took me 5 month off the pill to get preg just keep in mind anywhere from 1st month to a year is common so try not to stress if it doesnt happen straight away i know i was goin a little stir crazy when it didnt happen in the first 3 months and reminding myself of that helped.
Good luck hope your a lucky first pop person

I was on Estelle early this year but I bled the whole time I was on it so I no problem getting my AF back after I came off it.
But everyone is different and what happened to your sister may not happen to you.

My periods were regular for the first 3 months after coming off the pill, then they went completely up the shoot for the next 6 months, then settled down again just in time for us to start ttc! Hope you don't get any periods now you've stopped the pill though and get pregnant right away

I was using Mirena for almost 5yrs and pretty much got AF back straight after having it removed. Before having the Mirena, my periods were hell!! I bled so much that I was clotting and ended up needing a blood transfusion!! I recently got pg but miscarried at 7wks which was Mothers Day 08! So have been TTC ever since and learning alot since using msg boards such as these.
I think everyones body's are different so unfortunately we have to try our best to endure everything as it comes, thankfully though, we have awesum sites like this where we can chat to others and share our experiences with one another but best of all support one another in what can be difficult times which makes getting pg so much more special when it finally does happen w/out any probz!!
