hey all.
i just made an appointment to get a brazilian wax next week... i had them regularly until i got pregnant with my daughter (wow that's a while ago now...) so know what i'm in for...i think...!!!
my question is to those who have had them during pregnancy...how did it go? i've heard all the horror stories of dodgy comments from the 'waxer' to the 'waxee' about the appearance of their vaginas... hmmmm.
pretty much i'm super nervous now i've made the appointment and need some reassurance!!!

This is a funny one, I care what I look like 'down there' my friends think I'm nuts. I can't wait til I can trim my own bikini line and shave my legs again!

I'll be getting my partner to have a go with the bikini line trimmer soon but no way will I be getting a brazilian OUCH!!!

I still had them whilst pregnant *hoping no OB girls that know me read this*

Anyway it wasn't bad and I had been going to the same women since before falling preg and she was great about it PLUS she had to be, if she said anything mean I probably would have got up and smacked her one I was a grumpy preggy lady.

It will be fine trust me! The waxers do it for preggy ladies all the time Good luck chicky

Hey emmakate, I'm much earlier in my pg than you (so not sure if that makes a difference with comments from the waxing lady!) but I kept my waxing appointment last week and it didn't hurt (any more than usual) and the "waxer" knew I was pg so maybe she didn't dare make any comments

I always figured, they have seen it all before so why comment. But a friend of mine was telling me once how her waxing lady commented on how "young" she looks ...??!?!?!? WTF? Weird.

Good luck with your wax! I'm sure it will be fine.

Hehe my daughter never came out that way either lol
I think its easier to errm maintain after birth if there is no hair there JMO

Also the pain isn't that bad, well the first time it's a lil bad but after that its all good

I'm a beautician and waxing should be fine. Just uncomfortable lol

Some beauticians won't wax that late in pregnancy if you havent been getting them done regularly. But I'm sure you would have mentioned that at appointment time.

Also the size of some ladies (which im sure your not as you didnt mention this) can cause a bit of a problem while pregnant. For example a lady who is overweight already (esp with an overhang tummy) needs to help make the skin taught for the waxing,,,and if they are large with the overhang tummy they need to pull it up and push (hope you kwim).. in this situation close to EDD it wouldnt be advisable.

Hope this helps :)

hey Nefertiti thanks for the info! i did explain to my beautician lady that i was going to be 38 weeks, (she has just done my facials in the past... now she gets the other end!...ha) she mentioned that it will be a little more "uncomfortable" than usual (..hmmm doctor code for "it's going to f**kin hurt!)

fortunately i'm pretty much just all belly in this pregnancy , and you can access the area (if you know what i mean...)

phew! what an interesting topic this really is!!

I remember during my last prenancy, someone told me to "tidy up"! down there so as not to look like a bush woman!! Didn't get a chance as Leah was born that week, not that she came out that way anyway! This time have trimmed already (while I could still reach...ha ha) and will see how its going closer to the time. Not doing the waxing thing though

I don't get a brazillian but did continue to have a bikini wax during my pregnancy and my last ended up being only 5 days before Jack was born. If I remember the most uncomfortable part was lying on my back.
DH did say after Jack was born that I should have got a brazillian though as it would have been tidier during the birth! I think next time I won't get a brazillian but I will get the clippers out for the "in between" part

I'm a trimming girl, no Brazilians for me.

Doesn't it itch like crazy when it all grows back? The shave for the cesarean was bad enough!!

Doesn't itch nope....shaving on the other hand does!!! I will continue with the waxing when I'm pregnant, just because I prefer it.

nah - doesn't itch at all for a brazilian, unless you shave it yourself!

i used to get them regularly before i was pg, but heard that it heaps more now and that combined with a tightening budget has put me off a bit...

Nah it doesn't itch at all growing back T.

I didn't have them done when I was pregnant but done afterwards. But I did however do it myself with a razor before I had the boys.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I had brazilians throughout both my pregnancies
I thought it hurt a bit more than usual, but didn't have any comments from my therapist. The only thing she said was about how many other pregnant women who had come in lately and new mums with their little bubbas who sat in the capsule while mum had it done. That's where I draw the line - six weeks after the birth and I'm definitely not keen to get another one done yet! Enough pain down there for a while I think!
Mum to two gorgeous girls!
