Topic: A Few questions Girls Posted: 10 June 2008 at 7:35pm |
Well Im SO frustrated now, this has been going on for sooo long and Im not sure if this is labour anymore, or just my body be dumb and not knowing what it wants to do.
I know he will be here so soon, but I just wish that something would happen that makes me think YES this is it!!! But Im still in that, "I dont know" stage and Im starting to think Im not actually in labour.
Anyways, my questions are..
**When you were in Labour, whether it be early labour or active, did your lower back and pelvis feel achy and sore even in between contractions?
**To start with, could you tell the start and finish of your contractions or was it sort of like hard to distinguish?
and finally, did you feel the baby pushing down onto your cervix with each contraction and did the baby move round when you had one?
Thanks Girls, Id go INSANE if I didnt have the support I have on here!!

Yes.

Yes, I'd say it was pretty obvious even early on, just not as painful. Not sure if it's the same for everyone though?
and finally, did you feel the baby pushing down onto your cervix with each contraction and did the baby move round when you had one?
I only remember the actual pain of the contractions, not if I could feel the baby moving down.
Eeeee good luck!! I hope it is happening for you and that you know for sure soon

When you were in Labour, whether it be early labour or active, did your lower back and pelvis feel achy and sore even in between contractions? Yes
To start with, could you tell the start and finish of your contractions or was it sort of like hard to distinguish? No, my back hurt so much I was just in consatnt pain and couldn't distinguish the contractions from the back pain. Once I got into my warm bath I was able to track them as the back pain subsided.
and finally, did you feel the baby pushing down onto your cervix with each contraction and did the baby move round when you had one? I don't remember feeling that. All I remember was back pain, contractions and feeling ill because I'd tried to eat some raisins to keep my energy levels up.

**When you were in Labour, whether it be early labour or active, did your lower back and pelvis feel achy and sore even in between contractions? Yes OMG yes
**To start with, could you tell the start and finish of your contractions or was it sort of like hard to distinguish? With Andrew at first no as they came one after the other. With Josh yes
and finally, did you feel the baby pushing down onto your cervix with each contraction and did the baby move round when you had one? With Andrew no as I dilated really fast. With Josh he kept bouncing around so when he went down I did.

-I felt ok between contractions.
**To start with, could you tell the start and finish of your contractions or was it sort of like hard to distinguish?
- it was really obvious for me. Baby was posterior, so I felt it all in my lower back.
**did you feel the baby pushing down onto your cervix with each contraction and did the baby move round when you had one?
-Don't recall feeling the baby at all. Just felt like the worst lower back pain ever.

OMG yes the day I went into labour with C I woke up with the worst pelvic pain.
To start with, could you tell the start and finish of your contractions or was it sort of like hard to distinguish?
No after a day (from 10am til about 5pm) of just feeling crampyish they started to become a bit more distinguished but still not really obvious until active labour.
and finally, did you feel the baby pushing down onto your cervix with each contraction and did the baby move round when you had one?
Um I can't remember feeling that I just remember Caprece moved round heaps the whole time.
Maybe get your midwife to do a stretch and sweep? It sounds like your so close to going this might really help you out.

Yes, Yes and Yes. I posted a thread called "Labour? I'm not quite sure!" when I went into the early labour stage at 39 weeks. Unfortunately because Jack was posterior and my body wasn't ready, I ended up having regular but short contractions for 2ish weeks, then all of a sudden he just hit the floor and wanted out NOW!
Have you tried EPO up your who-who? Worked for me (3up, 1 down, pierce them for the v-jay-jay ones and wear a pad). Had it over 3 nights and bam waters broke.

Im the same with the contractions, like Im feeling crampyish and Im finding it hard to distinguish the start and finish of a contraction cos the crampy feeling is there when it start and when it finish's, but I can definitly feel it peak, just not sure totally when it stops.....

Hey Sheena I'm thinking of you!! Have been all day in fact. I was hoping he would come today (he still might) cos it's Tuesday, and that's when I said he would be born
Sorry can't really answer your questions cos my labour all happened so quickly and I can't remember. But I'm hoping it gets going soon for you. It all sounds very promising. I can't wait to meet Caden!!! And have newborn cuddles!!!!

Yes, Yes, I felt pressure there but not sure if it was the cervix on its own or baby pressing. I didn't feel any moving around tho.

When you were in Labour, whether it be early labour or active, did your lower back and pelvis feel achy and sore even in between contractions?
Nope
To start with, could you tell the start and finish of your contractions or was it sort of like hard to distinguish?
yes. there's a definate peak to them and then you can feel it going away. my mw described it as 'walking up a mountain, you know you've reached the top, then it's time to come back down'
and finally, did you feel the baby pushing down onto your cervix with each contraction and did the baby move round when you had one?
I don't remember feeling charli pushing down and i'm sure she was still throughout labour.
i'm so sorry he's being a tease sheena! i know how you feel, charli did the exact same thing. when i was finally in labour, i'd been getting pains like you have all day, then it was around 7.30-8pm at night when i was in established labour, but still really thought i wasn't.....hang in there hun!

When you were in Labour, whether it be early labour or active, did your lower back and pelvis feel achy and sore even in between contractions?
Yep, I didn't really even notice my early labour because I had been having cramps for a few days, so I ignored them since there wasn't anything 'regular' about them...just massive constant ache.
To start with, could you tell the start and finish of your contractions or was it sort of like hard to distinguish?
Nope, they were hard to distinguish. I was pretty sore all over, so it wasn't until the bigger contractions hit that I knew that that was 'it'.
and finally, did you feel the baby pushing down onto your cervix with each contraction and did the baby move round when you had one?
I felt a bit of pressure, but I don't think I noticed the baby moving. I was too preoccupied with the pain by that time to notice much else. I can't really remember.
Best thing to get a baby on their way out is to make plans you wouldn't want to break. Plan to go out to dinner, or to a movie or visit friends...baby will be on their way before you even get there, there's like some kind of unborn child law in there about it.
Good luck...waiting sucks.

Everything you described there is me in a nut shell especially the bit about feeling crampy, ive been like this for almost 3 days now, apart from not feeling baby during the painful contractions, cos I havent got to that point yet.
Because I feel achy and sore around my back and pelvis all the time I was finding it hard to figure out the definite start and finish of the contractions.

Aww man, I feel your pain there. I would certainly say that things are underway, and that you're getting ready for it all to start properly. I had been having those same aches and pains for a few days, and when my midwife checked things out 'down there', I was 3cm dilated already. So things were happening, just very slowly. Once things DID start, it all progressed quite well because the first part had happened in those few days before.
Has your midwife or doctor checked to see if you're starting to dilate or anything?
I remember the frustration of waiting, waiting, waiting SO well. Everyone will say 'relax, take your mind off it etc etc', but it's hard. How do you relax when labour could be starting at any minute? But it's still good advice, just hard to apply when you're excited, frustrated and impatient all at the same time.
When you can't tell the difference between a contraction and an ache, you tend to analyse every little niggle and twinge, wondering if it was worse than the last one you felt and hoping the next one will be 'the one'.
Your baby will be here soon, your body is getting ready for him to arrive...good luck, hopefully today is the day!
