    Posted: 06 June 2008 at 4:25pm

Hey I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on ways to earn money from home? I was just considering going back to work when I found out we are going to be having another baby in the new year! So I figured instead of having to find a job to fit in with baby's schedule that would only be for a few months anyway, maybe someone might have some suggestions on work I can do from home? Just about every site I've visited expect me to pay them a "one off" payment first and I don't really know if that's right or not.

Any ideas are welcome

Hi Aroha

I have a friend that works as a sales rep for avon and she works from home. She goes door to door distributing leaflets. You can do that whilst taking the baby for a walk. Others ideas i guess are making yourself a website and doing business online, for example you could set up a e-commerce site selling something or become an affiliate for somebody else like fishpond for instance. If you are intrested in doing that then oxyhosting.co.nz are good company to register hosting from as thats where my sites are hosted. Good Luck with watever you decide.

If you are crafty, maybe you could make some things and sell them via TradeMe, in the interim?

Hi Aroha,
I'm in the same boat...those ads for sahm's that you have to invest in first look quite dodgy don't they. I think I'm going to avoid them.
All the best to you.

As fiona10 suggested you could go with Avon or something similar such as Nutrimetics, Tupperware, naughty knickers!!

I work from home, but I'm lucky that my 'real' job (as in the one I went to uni to train to do) lets me do that. Not why I chose this particular career but it works!

I'm the same, my job can be done anywhere, which is lucky.

Some other ideas though: mystery shopper, delivering pamphlets (added advantage of getting a bit of exercise too) Mary Kay Cosmetics sales rep (they work a lot in the evenings though and there's probably some sort of capital contribution required to set up...)

Good luck!!

some great ideas.. and tips..
thanks for the links fiona10
we have taken the 'make something' and then sell it option which is what we've done with the Peke Moe business (my mum and I do it together which is awesome!) but I couldn't do it without her as she's the 'sewing' whizz.. I have issues with sewing machines.. they dont really like me! ;)
What about your previous job/expereince, can you maybe get some contract work and do that from home? admin type stuff??
all the best! and congratulations on your news!

I was in the same situation of not wanting to go back to work a few months ago & had thought about avon & nutrimedics etc.  I then went to a Tupperware meeting & enjoyed what I saw and all the support that was available and there is no cash outlay and the training is free.  I am loving my new "job" as it doesnt feel like work at all as I enjoy it and having the satisfaction of knowing I am contributing to the household while stll having time with the girls and wanting to ttc also.

If you would like more information please pm me & I can give you some more information, I would be happy to give someone else the chance at a fun past-time

Working is a good thing, but once I decided to open a business, so now I need to develop it as much as possible. Therefore, if somebody has any good site where I can find it, recommend me please

In the past I used to work from home, but then it has become something more for myself. I opened my online shop and it constantly needs to be developed. Therefore, just try to check out this source https://redwerk.com/industries/e-commerce/ where you will also be able to get the best e-commerce development. I hope you will find it practical!
