Topic: Had my scan today Posted: 03 June 2008 at 6:55pm |
Well I'm still no better off knowing whats going on!
I thought today I was (or would have been) 6w5d. At the scan I was told the sac measured 5 1/2 weeks. But she couldnt find anything in it. She said it was too early to tell anyway. I asked if it was a blighted ovum and was told she couldn't tell that either!
There were some white blobs around the sac and I asked what they were and she said that was the forming of the placenta. So thats got to be a good thing? Has anyone seen this at an early scan before.
I kept telling her I haven't had any bleeding, but a slight brown mucous discharge when I wipe, sometimes. And she kept saying 'if your bleeding continues'...and I kept saying 'im not bleeding!'.
Anyway, she said to repeat hcg several more times and rebook a scan for 2 weeks.
I was quite disapointed as I really wanted to come way with some answers. I really expected to be told blighted ovum or something similar and its all over.
So on way home I get more bloods done. I'm getting so bruised and callapsing veins that they now take it from the top of my hand!
So just got results. For those who have been following will know that my levels have been very slow to rise (which to me means miscarriage), not doubling over past week. On saturday they dropped 158. Todays result went UP 431 since saturday! So, I'm thinking what!?
I'll call my midwife tomorrow so she can get another form for bloods and a scan form.
I am happy the numbers went up, but still not 'getting into it' (pregnancy) as I don't believe slow rising numbers are the best.
I am soooooooo confused!
I've seen many inspirational storys on The Misdiagnosed Miscarriage site. Especially ones where levels are low rising, dropping levels, then up again!
Well.......still in the waiting game. Just thought I'd update for you.
Thankyou all for the great support.
Please take this post as a personal update to those who have been communicating with my via PM's.

Aww the waiting is the hardest part, I think! Hang in there... your results will come out soon!
I am about to go through the HCG level testing too (first test was today)... and my 6 week scan is booked for Friday morning. I am as nervous as anything about it all.

Urgh so confusing for you!
its good news that your numbers have gone up again! hopefully your next lot of bloods are good and have gone up again and at your next scan you see a heartbeat!
When i had my m/c I thought I was 7 weeks but sac only measured 5 weeks and was empty, but there was no signs of anything around the sac...and I m/c the next day. I had been bleeding brown for a week though, so different to you cos your bleeding has stopped.
I hope you get some defanite answers soon hun **hugs**

OMG no wonder you seem so confused by it all. Hopefully something good comes from it all.

Chicka dont stress. Like I told you before I had the exact same thing and I went and had a scan. I thought I was 7 weeks turns out like you I was only 5. I had placenta but no baby and it freaked me out too. I went back in two weeks and there was a baby with a heart beat. Honestly stop stressing. In two weeks if there is no baby then you have some thing to worry about.
Relax hun!! I know its hard...just like you I was feeling crap and down not knowing what was going on. But my Scan guys was really good and he told me that while the placenta is sticking to you and your body is expanding the small blood vessels burst and cause light bleeding and it is normal.
And touch wood...so far so good. I am sure you are fine!!
