Hi Everyone,

I'm 5 weeks now and have had a cold for the last few days. I keep getting painful twinges in my ab when I cough and tonight I had a real strong stabbing pain after a cough that took a good 15-20 secs to subside. The paid is sharp and in a very small area.No cramping, no bleeding. Never had this before with a cold. Any ideas? Should I be concerned? Had a m/c last month so guess I'm paranoid about everything

This Pcy is way different from the one I m/c with in regards to symptoms right through to the way i'm feeling in myself.

I'm meeting our midwife on Tues so might ask her if no one has any advice. I know it's early to book a MW this early but you have to book early i'm told!!

Hmmm, my guess would be that when you are pregnant all your ligaments loosen up ready to stretch etc and you have to be careful when you do things as you are more likely to pull a muscle. So you may have pulled a ligament coughing.

Ask your midwife though

I had heaps of stabbing and aching pains in my abdomen in early pregnancy. All your uterine ligaments start stretching out so my guess would be the same as Sheza, you might have twinged something when you coughed.

But definitely mention it to your midwife, I think she will say that if the pain subsided it should be ok though!

Same as the others - pulled muscle or ligament from coughing. I know this is TMI but I had the same issue when I was vomiting with ms.

I'd ask your MW/GP about it. As long as the pains aren't constant then it's probably fine

Does it feel like it's off centre a bit. Round ligament pain is really common and tends to be sharp shooting pains around the perimeter of the uterus. I got them a lot in the first trimester.

I still get a horrible stabbing pain when I cough or sneeze - and I'm 28 weeks! I'd say it was normal, but always check with your MW. I'm sending you lots of positive energy and what-not for this pregnancy too. Good luck!!!
