This morning I noticed the slightest bit of spotting (not red) which has never happened before with my first preg or any other stage through this one.

I happened to have a midwife appointment this morning as well so I mentioned it to her and she just said to keep an eye on things and maybe I'll have another scan to check what's going on (I only just had one on Monday).

Over time I have seen heaps of posts about spotting, particularly early on, so I really am trying not to worry but it's a first for me... I can't help but think yikes it's too late in the preg not to worry, but also too soon to have the baby if there was anything wrong.. ugh..just wanted to let it out really.. I'm sure things will be fine..

Hugs Pepsi! I had spotting at 25 weeks with the gremlin creatures and it never amounted to anything. It could just be irritation around the cervix, esp if you had 'special cuddles' recently? Not that we did lol, it was completely random, I woke up at 6am to go to the bathroom as you do and thought I was seeing things when I saw bleeding. I had an internal etc. at the hospital and everything was fine.

I also had random bleeding (quite heavy) between 12-14 weeks with this one and the OB at the hospital told me that it would be "highly unlikely" to miscarry at that late stage, esp when all my scans had been normal.

Oh hun, big hugs!!!
I had spotting at 23weeks, (had special cuddles) and was told i had an "irritable cervix" and it wasnt anything to worry about, was told sometimes that some women get it so bad they can spot from sitting down to heavily or standing to fast!
Maybe try to take things really slowly over the next few days (well as slowly as a toddler will let you!) try not to lift heavy things, try to limit how often you lift you little girl (i knwo this is hard) but try getting down to her level instead maybe?

Please try not to worry, im sure you and baby will be fine, and try thinking of it this way, you get to see baby again in less than a week rather than having to wait till shes born!

hugs xoxoxoxoxo

Have you had your anatomy scan yet and do you know the position of the placenta. The thing that would concern me with spotting at this stage in pregnancy would be things like placenta previa, placenta accreta, where the placenta covers the cervix.

Hopefully you can rule that out, and it's just a bit of non consequential irritation.

Well it's definitely not due to any "special hugs", I know that for sure hehe.

I had the anatomy scan on Monday and have a posterior placenta and is clear of the cervix.

Haven't done anything particularly strenuous, and although the lady who did the scan pressed a bit hard at times, that was on Monday and the spotting didn't happen until today. So far nothing else though so hopefully it was a one off. Will have to try and carry Alyssa a little less and take it easy though. Thanks for the reassurance ladies :)

I had a random spot of dark, old blood when I was pregnant with Benjy. I think I was about 23-24 weeks and it was first thing in the morning.
I'd had a really busy day the day before, lots of cleaning and walking and shopping etc and I think it was because of that.
It freaked me right out though and I couldn't help but worry for ages afterwards, but thankfully it never happened again.
My midwife said the same thing as MyBelly's, irritable cervix, and apparently it is more common with subsequent pregnancies.
Hope you're ok and there's no more bleeding, I agree that this is the perfect reason for you to rest up!

Sounds possible that it could be related to the scan. If she pressed really hard I wonder whether you ended up with a wee bit of bruising/bleeding.   It sounds like it's old blood so the timing coincides.

pepsi, i'm sure you will be fine. my friend had spotting and bleeding off and on thru her first preggy. like at 30weeks i think she had to have blood transfusion. i'm sure it's just normal and i agree with scarecrowfarm about the bruising etc. espesh if it wasn't red.

randomly this morning when I was changing my liner I noticed that I had some darker 'old blood' type of spotting - must've happened last night. Feel fine though and baby is still kicking up a storm. Hoping it's nothing, just like all you girls had!

my freind lost some of her plug at bout 30 odd weeks, so maybe that's what you girls are getting? a leak from the plug? or it oculd just be old blood that's left in there from somethign a rather...
