Topic: Hot Pools Posted: 09 May 2008 at 5:15pm |
We are going to Waiwera Hot Pools for Mothers Day on Sunday and I thought Id better check and see if its safe for me to swim in them?? Im not sure what the deal is with swimming in hot pools. I know I wont be allowed in the super hot one, but the normal one should be fine right?
Oh and all Mothers get in free on Mothers Day I wonder if they will let me in for free lol seems as im just about to become one!

We have a spa and I asked my midwife and she said that its fine but if you feel hot get out and not to stay in for too long.
Have fun at the hot pools and a happy mothers day.

but they are pretty well insulated so their temps stay pretty constant unless it is extreme.
I LIVED in the bath so I think hot (just not super duper hot) will be fine.
ENJOY!

I have hot showers lol, well not like really hot but fairly warm and I just make sure the water isnt directly on my tummy. But If I see my skin going pink I turn it down.

I have HOT showers, but i'm never in there long enough to worry. Didnt go to the hot pools tho - I always thought you couldnt until I learned at antenatal class that you're quite safe in them as long as you dont get too hot lol. Now its a bit too late hehe

I read somewhere that the best way to tell when it was too hot was when you started sweating - cos then it is increasing your body temp... was a good indication for me... I just stayed in for a while and then got out a cooled down...

Well yeah I was thinking, if your allowed in hot water for water birth then a hot pool wouldnt be much different!
If I get too hot Ill jump out(well waddle out lol) but I think il still check in with my MW and see what she says.

I still have hot baths, I'm just not prepared to give them up - on the days when I feel really crappy a hot bath really helps.
And I'd say yep, hot pools are fine, I went to Palm Springs when I was preg with Maya and just didn't put my head under, just like everyone else said use your judgement if you feel too hot.

I didn't think Waiwera Hot Pools posed a problem putting your head under the water....
I remember when I was in labour with my 2nd...and we went to the hot pools which was about 30-40 mins from the hospital! God knows what was going through my head lol. But I think it definately helped with my labour...went home, watched a movie, went to hosp and she popped out an hour later!
Have fun on Sunday! I'm sure you'll be fine!

My goodness, there is so much stuff you cant/shouldnt do when you are pregnant. I cant wait until I see my midwife... I hope they have a list!
Have fun at the Hot Pools... if you've decided to go.

The main pool is lovely, just nice and warm. Theres little pools to the side which are WAY hotter. When I used to go with my aunty, she'd go in the hydroslide pool which was nice and deep (the one thats just by where you go up the stairs) and has a fountain - was really soothing for her.
You'll love it there :D I'd stay away from the indoor pools tho, they get real smelly and hot. Oh and wear jandals when you're not in the pool - they have textured tiles that are REAL uncomfy on the feet.
