Both of mine still don't consistently. They started sleeping a LOT better once they hit 8 months tho.

Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear.

Harry did it at about 12 weeks old I think.. or maybe like 14 weeks? I can't remember. And slept between 8 and 13 hours a night. But as you know, now he's not anymore lol. So even when they start doing it unfortunately doesn't mean it's going to last!!

Daniel went through stages of sleeping through and not all the way up until about 6 months then he started getting through until 4am, but that was for a short feed then back in bed within 10 mins.

Can your DH help you out over the weekends or anything. Like he do one night of getting up for the feeds so you can get a solid nights sleep?

Or try cluster feeding in the evening. We did this with Daniel for a time, bottle at 6pm, bed 6:30pm, dream feed bottle at 8:30ish then another at 10:30ish. Helped him sleep a bit longer.

i know they regress sometimes..:( he as doing 6-7 hours for a while...

kebakat- yes but like lat weekend,...firstly no matter how loud Ethan is he never wakes DH so i have to wake up.. then oftne DH goes back to sleep..or ihave to force him to get up..soI'm awake.. then i can hear Ethan making nay noise..adn DH doesnt go into him unless he's really crying which is fine during the day but keeps me awake during the night..so i end up being more exhausted:( he did the 1230am feed one night and the 230 the next and then said ' i walked past you sleeping and thought hpmf she had 1.5 hours sleep more than me...' then he said to me 'i know how you feel when I'm asleep and you are feeding..it's tiring'..lol from doing one bottle two nights in a row...lol:) but i did appreciate him trying to help...

as as far as dram feeding i tried it once and he vomited everywhere at 4am too scared to try again..atm he is asleep by 730 then up anytime between 1030-2 then up at least once more...sometimes i have to ge tup twice to put dummy back in too..

rachandjack i dont mind...i know it might be a while.. i just want another baby not too far away but he's gotta be sleeping ALOT better before that!

Hey foxxxy in the weekend I do the middle of the night feed and then DH does the first one in the morning, Gabs only tends to wake once during the night, so if she goes down at 10.30pm I will feed her when she wakes (which is anytime between about 2.30 and 5am) and then DH will do the next feed (between 6.30am and 10am), that way we both get reasonable amounts of sleep in the weekend, do you think that could work for you.

I can go back to sleep if Gabs wakes me up though, I don't find that a problem and having the knowledge that DH is getting up for the morning feed I seem to manage not to hear her in the morning in the weekends.

yeah i wish:) he is a very deep sleeper..i used to be too..:) and even if he has the monitor at other end of the house i still hear him(and wake up and get to him way before DH even stirs,he says he will wake up but he doesnt)..and i try to go back to sleep but then when he puts him back he lets him grizzle to sleep(which i dont do at night) and it keeps me awake:( i can go back to sleep easily enough most of the time..but i guess i feel guilty too as he's so tired the next day..stupid me i should feel guilty..i would prefer he does middle of the night as Ethan tends to wake sortof 1230 and 4 ish or 2 and 6.. so what am i saying./.maybe that i need to teach DH to wake up :) and stop looking so tired when he does do a feed..:) DH also thinks he should have a sleep in which is fine but doesnt seem keen on one day sleeping in for each of us..as i said i think the main problem is i dont feel rested as im getting up replacing dummy or waking up DH ..if he could just hear him adn get up that would be great:)!

thats what plunket call sleeping through the night..and maybe if it started at 1pm that would be fine but E's always starts at 730pm:) ..maybe its time for a routine..i was just reading on the sleep store website about dummies..i really dont want to get rid of it due to the SIDS thing though..

Lol yeah I agree, 5 hours is so not sleeping through the night!!

Man I feel for you with the DH not waking up thing. What if he slept in Ethan's room on a mattress, shut the door, and had the monitor in there with him too (right next to his ear lol) and you slept in your lovely bed with the door shut.

If you are having to get up in the middle of the night to replace his dummy, perhaps you should try weaning him from it so at least that's one thing you don't have to deal with.

DH didn't always wake to Daniel either but I made a deal with him that on the night he was taking over from me, if he didn't get up immediately I was allowed to give him a kick so he knew to get up and make a bottle.

arohanui I've just started sleeping back in there but even with all that (and theres no room for a mattress and heater..I'd still hear it..lol:) hehe but i will suggest it..Ethan has been crying in his ear and another time hes had the monitor loudest setting in his ear an not woken up:) he says he will if he needs to but apart form the first time he hasnt..
kebakat that might work..though when hes alseep is another story we are both awful wakers from sleep:) i want to wean him but i dont he is FF and his Dad smokes so its one of the few things going good from him in the prevention of SIDS!

Once I got serious about T learning to self settle he started consistently sleeping through the night from 11 weeks. the self settling thing seems to be the key, he has a snuggly thing (kaloo rabbit) and if he wakes I think he just sucks that and goes back to sleep. He has woken a couple of times when sick but other than that is still sleeping through ffrom 7-7. does he sleep well during the day? I am a big believer in day time and a night time bed routine

Jack has never slept through the night, a few times he has slept about 6hrs but I could count those times on 1 hand! Although he seems to have been teething forever and he never sleeps well then! I think that I have just some how learnt to function with only 6hrs of broken sleep. My DH often doesn't wake when Jack does which generally doesn't bother me, he has to work and I have only ever bf Jack (no expressing) so DH often couldn't do anything anyway

Maya was 7 weeks, the gremlins were 15 weeks, but with them, they went from waking and screaming for hours during the night to suddenly sleeping from 10.30pm till 7am.
I swore by dream feeds with all of my girls, and probably will with this one too altho I know some people have found they don't work for some babies. I found the dummy more nuisance than good, one night I got up 20+ times in one hour to put them back in so I gave up.

PS. The best solution I found to exhaustion was napping during the day when they slept. I've never been very good at it, but when I had the gremlins I had to learn!
