Hopefully that bill wasn't an estimate KA - sometimes our bill is an estimate and then other times it's taken from an actual reading, so if the estimate is less that what we used then we end up paying the difference the next time
We used our dehumidifier for a while as we had it on anyway. It worked great. I have the same issue...(now we have a HRV and don't use the dehumidifier) I put our laundry on clothes racks and put them in front of our ranchslider where they get the morning sun. Sometimes if it's not raining, I'll open the window and let some air in to help.

Do you have a hot water cupboard. I hang washing out first thing in morning, then make sure to get it in around 3pm. It then gets folded and put in the hot water cupboard until the next days load needs to go in.
Ugh I hate the chinese laundry look but it was a necessity all last winter. We don't have a drier either, and wouldn't have anywhere to put one if we did. This year our lounge is smaller and it'd be impossible to dry a couple of loads, so DH built a wooden clothes rack that sits up by the ceiling over the fire, and moves up & down with a pulley. It ROCKS!!!!

ours does half the time now anyway cause I fill up the garage and then stick stuff inside.
