I'm confused...doesn't take much:) hehe..
anyway E just had his jabs today..he got two in one leg and one in the other...so got three jabs..some people only getting two....why is it different ...how come some places combine but my doc doesnt and my boy has to have extra needles?:( and to clarify as well he will finish the menz ones then he gets the new ones free as well cause he was born after jan 1??

They are just using up the stock of medicine that they have first. Makes more sense than throwing out perfectly fine medicine.
Thankfully we got 2 injections though.
We got the MenzB but won't be getting the new ones , so the nurse told me anyway.
I remember going for jabs before holidays before and DH had to get an extra injection because I got the last combined dose.

Michaela got 3 too. The nurse explained that they keep them seperate so that if there's a reaction they can easily identify what she's reacting to. That's also why Menz B was in a different leg, it was a new immunisation back then and they wanted to be able to monitor any adverse reactions.

ahhhh thanks:) i did wonder why they had two in one one in another.. does it get harder as they get older to do it?not like i can bribe him with food till th e15mths one as he isnt allowed most food till one:(

I think the first one was the hardest for me (I bawled all afternoon afterwards). As they get older the first jab's still a surprise but subsequent ones aren't so they struggle. I get the nurse to administer them as quick as she can without a break in between.
Did you give him pamol 30 mins before the appt? That helps. There's also a numbing gel you can buy from the chemist to put on the leg before the needle goes in, you don't need a script.
eta: I've never used the numbing gel though.

Hi KA, i posted this in our fourm... but Daniel got the 3 jabs coz they had to use up there stocks. Apparently he will be recalled for the new jab???? Seems a bit mean!

I time the jabs for when my baby is due for a feed as often as possible... then I hold them tightly and they feed while the nurse gives the injections, then swap sides for the other one... my children are usually too busy scoffing milk to do more than pull off (breastfed), look surprised and squwark at me in protest, then latch back on and keep drinking!
Worked with Kiya having a bottle at one of her sets of jabs too... however, I lived less than 2 minutes walk from the doctors, so I was able to warm the bottle at home and she was of an age where she sat upright on my knee to drink it.

oh no i didnt give pamol before im quite iffy bout giving it before 4 months but did give it after jabs last time...might do it next time..he seems fine much happier than last time.. we need a proper thermometer hough we have the stupid arm one:(! they should use numbing gel it seems so mean! yeah she said it gets easier but i assumed it got harder....
verena seems mean but is good cause it means he gets an extra set of protection..oh do you mean 3 instead of 2..yes that is mean:(
yeah im not a feeding while they get them done kinda person ... :(

i cant remember how many the boys got and eden hasnt had her 6 week ones yet... i never gave the boys pamol before hand and never had any probs with them. I have to get gabriels 4 yr old ones soon too so will prob get them both done at the same time...i am not looking forward to gabriel getting his done...   there will be tears i am sure...

I didn't do the Pamol prior to the jabs - our doc recommended against it, then when Daniel had to see the doc a couple of days after the jab our doc wasn't there so saw another doc and he suggested doing it prior.... I told him the other doc recommended against it and he said it really is a personal choice

Daniel only had 2 jabs for all his imms. We never let them do 3 at once. So we delayed menzb.

kebakat why not three at once? I have heard this..and my friend in HK only gets two as well.. i hear you have to have all MENZ by end of the year but that just means all people who started it get to finish it.. ?

For my sons 6 week and 3 month jabs he got 3, but for his 5 month jabs yesterday he only got 2.
The nurse told me they have combined the dtap-ipv and hib-hepb (i diddnt know that off by heart i got the book out) so he got that and the menz. She also told me that there are some doctors that still have old stock so they are using it up before starting the combined ones.
She said she is telling her patients this because chatting at coffee groups and the likes will cause some mothers to worry they have not got them all.

They are saying if you have started the MenzB you need to finish it as well as getting the new one as the are immuniasing against different meningitus strain. But the good news is the new vaccine is included with one of the old ones so no extra needles. (This is according to my doctor) And Tishy it seems weird that the nurse was telling you what immunisations your girls would be getting??

I think the new one depends on when they were born. My boy wont be getting it unless i pay for it and I understand those born after 1 jan are eligable for it to be funded.

That's what I thought too but when I asked the nurse today they said we wouldn't be getting it.
Dunno, maybe she wasn't aware of it.
