Just a quick questions, when your impending labour, 38 weeks plus and you feel like your body is starting to show signs of contractions, What do you do? Do you help it along to try and increase the contractions? Do you sit down and relax and just see what will happen?

sit down and try to relax and see what happens. when i was in early labour, i was having tightenings/cramps, every hour on the hour. that went on for about 8hrs then started getting more frequent

your having an elective c/s aren't you? i may have remembered wrong so forgive me if i have. if you are having frequent 'contractions' i'd give the m/w a call and let her know

Yeah that's me :-)

My midwife doesn't want to see me until contractions are lasting longer than 40 seconds due to the hospital being full and what I could be feeling could be false labour due to the fact she believes my baby is to big to decend down to cause "real" labour.

I'm not having anything regular but yesterday was random ones every now and then... this morning I can feel something is going on and not sure weather to encourage it or not... we normally go for a walk on Sundays.

I would try and relax until they became more intense/frequent and you arent comfy anymore - save your energy for when it really matters! Although, if you are having a caesar I'd ring your midwife.

Wow, not long to go now Rach - cant wait to hear whether its a boy or girl!

If you have a rest/bath and they go away its false, if you have a rest/bath and they get worse chances are this is it.

How much longer until the elective?

8 more sleeps to go

Last time a bath didn't get rid of them but they stopped on there own 36 hours after they started. They were every 10 minutes from the start byt they never got stronger than 40 seconds long. My body was totally exhused and ached for two days after.

Today they just seem to be hanging in the background, can't really feel a pattern yet so not really paying any attention to them.
