Yes there is, Thrush is a fungal rash whereas nappy rash is more like irritated skin from ammonia, poops, and chaffing.
Thrush is usually round the bum with raised whiteish bumps.
I went to the doc with Bella thinking it was thrush but was told it was just irritation because it wasnt on her bum and looked different.
Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.
Ok thrush is lots of raised red spots where nappy rash is more just reddish skin. Just for fun sometimes thrush can get infected so you need a different cream again.
Use a nappy rash cream and if its not getting any better take her straight to the dr. Also check her mouth for a white tongue or white patches because Caprece used to get thrush in her mouth as well as bum.
It's so difficult to tell the difference sometimes.
Cathy had white spots on her tongue and raised red bumps on her bottom. Dr diagnosed thrush and prescribed the following. I was breastfeeding at the time so had to treat her mouth and my nipples and her bum. We used daktozin ointment on her bottom, nilstat (?) cream on my nipples (safe to use with breastfeeding, didn't have to wash it off unlike other medication, two repeats) and used nilstat (?) in liquid form with a dropper to treat her mouth. Thrush took quite awhile to clear up - roughly 6 weeks or so.
