Does anyone know if this is safe / effective? My nausea is really bad and nothing seems to help.   I just keep eating and eating and I'm starting to think eating makes it worse. However, I read a warning on the back of the blackmores stuff re: Vit b6 in large / extended doses that causes nerve damage and that concerned me.

Hmmm Im not sure, but my ms was quite bad aswell, all day nausea made me feel rotten! So I went into the chemist to ask if they had anything that I could take(like natural products) and they wouldnt sell me anything They said I had to get a script from my midwife for something to help my ms....

I found that nothing really helped my ms either, I would eat and eat and still feel sick. The thing that helped the most though was drinking ice cold water and just nibbling crackers when I got the feeling like I was going to throw up, I only ever threw up 2 times, so I seemed to be able to keep the puking at bay most the time.

Yeah I keep eating heaps of things I wouldn't usually eat like white rolls etc as it makes me feel better while I'm eating but I think I feel worse after so maybe if I stick to fruit, crackers etc and just nibble I'll feel better all round.

Yeah I think nibbling is the best thing, I found if I ate too much at once my tummy was like NOOO lol, and thats when I would get that "Im gonna be sick" feeling! I had 3 months of that, it sucked

Have you talked to your doc about your morning sickness? My doc ended up prescribing me some anti nausea med's that were safe during pregnany and they were the best thing ever . I think I could take them 3 times a day, but only ended up taking them once a day and they still worked really well. Before that I took some ginger tablets from the health store, but they didn't do much at all.

I use them sometimes, but they're giant and sticky (mostly due to super pregnancy smell though) so I have to take one before I feel really sick. They're safe if you don't take more than recommended. I don't know if they make much difference.
I got some nausicalm from the dr and they don't seem to help either.

Having something in my tummy before I get out of bed makes a huge difference. I still throw up and feel sick for most of the day but I can cope. I just have orange juice because I can't face crackers or toast. And orange juice is nicer to throw up
With nothing in my tummy I feel like I'm going to curl up and die!

I'm not actually throwing up although I do get close. Sometimes I think the once a day vomit would be better i.e. classic morning sickness!

Lemonade iceblocks!

I tried Blackmores and also the Naturopharm Morning Med with Maya and it didn't help at all.

I still have boxes and boxes of Nausicalm (cyclazine) here if you want.

Have you tried preggy pops? I think you can get them from Egg Maternity and they're pretty reasonably priced. I never tried them because by the time I found out they were gluten free and therefore ok for me to use my morning sickness had mostly abated but I suggested them to a friend from work when she got prenant and they seemed to help her.

I got sent some preggy pops, they didn't do much for the morning sickness but they were tasty!

When I was in hospital with hyperemesis they had me on maxalon, cyclazine, zofran and Vit B6 supplements.

I used Blackmores with this pregnancy - it worked wonders. I was vomiting up to 10 times a day and struggled to keep down anything including water in the mornings. It was either a herbal supplement or hospital for me. I took the pills 3 times a day at each mealtime (before I got out of bed in the mornings) and it reduced the vomiting down to once in the morning and it stopped all the nausea throughout the day. After a week or so I reduced the amount of them I was taking to one a day first thing in the morning and it set me right for the whole day. I still was woken up in the morning and got out of bed to vomit but at least I was able to eat and drink normally again throughout the day.

Some people swear by ginger, e.g. a glass of flat ginger beer first thing before you get up (Bundaberg is best -some of the others don't actually have any ginger in them, just artificial flavouring!); ginger tea made with grated root ginger, either fresh or you can by it grated in jars, or the slivers of preserved ginger that you get with sushi - can buy jars of it at the supermarket.
Good luck.

I found the preggy pops made me feel worse, they were just too sweet, I tried ginger beer, gagged over the sink within 5 mins...I tried crackers, they worked the best but still if I was gonna gag i was gonna gag...ice cold water helped a bit aswell.
Peppermints made me feel worse...as did peppermint tea!

So all in all Id say ice water and crackers(with peanut butter on them) were my friends during my 3 months of ms.

I'm finding slices of apple or pear are good...just have to eat a slice every 10mins or something. STILL eating heaps even though it doesn't help...I guess I'm just hungry.

I started using ginger supplements but found blackmores heaps more effective - it literally stopped my nausea dead in it's tracks! that combined with constant snacking :)

Definately constant snacking - I still have to snack as twins are taking up too much room and I cant fit in normal-sized meals.
