Topic: what do you do after BD? Posted: 29 March 2008 at 6:33pm |
Odd question I know,
What do you do after you do the deed? When not TTC I went straight to the bathroom to avoid bladder infections. Some one told me you should stay in bed and slightly raise your hips. Is there anything I need to do after to help our chances?
I've only been off the pill for 3 weeks and finished the withdrawal a week ago. I've read I can spontaneously ovulate around this time. Anyone know if this is true? I haven't started charting yet.

I was like you and always went to the bathroom after sex to avoid UTI's, I continued to do that and still got pregnant pretty much the first week we decided that we would go with the flow even though we weren't actually trying just yet! We thought it would take atleast a year!

I just rolled over and went to sleep! Or if it was day time, just lay and read a book for a while. I didn't know about the pillow under the hips tho... I got pregnant our 2nd month of trying. Hope it happens quickly again this month!

Also, having an orgasm after the sperm is on the cervix is supposed to be good because it makes the cervix open up more.

A lot of January mums did the pillow under the hips/legs up wall thing and then at the beginning of the third trimester heaps of us had babies in breech position - we all joked that this must have been why
only my critter stayed that way until birth though so never fear

How often and how much robitussin did you take rachel?
I also read an article about some bad side effects while taking robitussin while ttc....did you ever read that?
I'll try and find the article.
Edited to add: I remember the exact article I found, but there is heaps online if yo google it...robitussin and birth defects brings up quite a few.

Hi and good luck ttc
Now I NEVER STAY in bad after sex personally because I had kidney reflux as a child and have reoccurant UTIs ALL THE TIME and eveerything sets it off so I practically run to the bathroom because I will pay then next day lol. Anyway I concieved 2 times without doing the whole hips raising thing but they do suggest it. I got told that you should noy elevate to high other wise the sperm parks up on the cervix, dnt ask me how true that is either lol. I listen to alot of hearsay hehe.

Yes I did read about birth defects with Robitussin, that's why it's important to get one that has ONLY guaifenesin in it, and NO Dextromethorphan. I stood in the chemist for about 30 mins lol, reading all the labels, and the one I got, I made sure it only has guaifenesin as the active ingredient. The one I have is... *goes to check bathroom cupboard* Robitussin EX Chesty Cough.
And I just took 1 capful (think it was 20mLs but could be wrong... Maybe it was 10mLs) twice a day from about 5 days before I was due to ovulate. The article says all about when you should take it.
Anyway, it's not for every one, but it helped me to conceive
