I just got a couple of bamboo inserts yay but I'm not sure what the deal is with bamboo. Is it like hemp and really absorbant but quite slow? or is it like MF and fast to absorb but can't hold as much?

TIA

I've got bamboo and know that they're getting better and better over time (lasting longer) and they take a long time to dry. Not sure about absorbancy speed though.

They absorb heaps (like hemp) and as such take ages to dry, and take a fair few washes to reach a good absorbancy, but they absorb a fair bit faster than hemp I think. Not as quickly as m/fibre, but enough to use on it's own.

I never found that bamboo absorbed much more than hemp.. as I tried that on my mega pee'er at night and it made no difference on him. But the drying time is soo much longer in our experience.

Where do you get Bamboo inserts from? We got some peapods with bamboo and would love to buy some additional bamboo inserts.

There's probably other places, but http://www.babycuddles.co.nz/cart/ seems to have the best selection of bamboo that I can recall at this moment.

I had some Tweedle bamboo inserts but sold them coz I didn't find them any better than any of my other inserts.

I am keen to try a bamboo peapod on baby tho.

I just love bamboo. I believe it absorbs slower than microfibre but faster than hemp and is fast enough for Joshie. I'd be quite happy to use only bamboo.

I like bamboo too. I have a tweedles bamboo insert and find it really good. It did take quite a few washes to reach full potential though! I like it because its not bulky, and I have a trifold, which dries quite quickly. I want more!!

Has anyone tried bamboo fitteds? I am very tempted to buy some if they go the distance because now Rowan is doing 11-12 hour stretches and she is a heavy wetter. I'm resorting to disposables at the moment to keep her dry throughout.

I've read good things about Baby Beeehinds, which are a bamboo fitted nappy. I'm pretty sure they'd require extra boosting for overnight but they looks trim & comfortable!

i've found that BKT (burley knit terry) to be a really good absorbent material... so maybe some boosters in that would help.

Cool! thanks guys. I don't mind boosting them as it probably wouldn't require a lot extra. It's boosting standard cloth that's starting to get out of control - her little legs don't even touch the bed lol!

Oh bless her. I think if I had a little one I'd probably buy a Baby Beehind to start with for nights as they look so gorgeous and and would be great with a wool soaker overtop. Nice & trim too!

If you have a look at one of the other threads (maybe about 'fluffy post'?) there is a picture of Seb looking gorgeous in a Beehind with a Designer Bums Merino cover
