Just out of curiosity ... how far along were you when you first felt your baby move?

(I'm not anxious or anything, just would like to hear from others)

15 weeks which is pretty early for a first baby (according to the old wives tales, it means it's a girl though the soccer kicks now seem to suggest it's a boy!). This was after my MIL telling me very firmly that I WOULDNOT feel the baby kick till 18 weeks!

On the July 08 thread, we had a variety - Emma with baby #4 felt the kicking really early, whereas others were around 18-20 week mark. Also depends on the placenta - if it's anterior, you'll feel it later.

With my first I felt her (definately for sure!) at about 20 weeks - so quite late. Cameron was alot earlier at about 15/16 weeks and I'm pretty sure I've been feeling this one off and on for about a week now. Just flutters but pretty sure it's baby! Oooh, hadn't heard the one about it being a girl if you feel it early - maybe this one is a girl (would make life easier cos we have girl's names picked out but can't agree on any boys names!).

I think it wasn't until around the 20 week mark that I really knew what I felt was baby moving - before that the kicks were too gentle and I always thought it was gas

I was about 11 or 12 weeks when I first felt him. I kept feeling this little "twitch" down really low, and at first I thought nothing of it, then gradually that twitch got stronger and stronger until there was no denying that it was caden lol, now he hurts me! lol

With Maya it was 17 weeks 6 days, I probably had flutters earlier but didn't know what they were. With the gremlins it was 13 weeks, my midwife didn't believe me till I pointed to where I felt them and she found their heartbeats in exactly those spots, and have also been feeling this one from just before 14 weeks, but I suspect my uterus is stretched veeeery thin!

I felt them at about 12 weeks. Was like bubbles popping in my tummy and on one side specifically. I had read heaps so knew what to expect and wasn't surprised to feel them. I was kicked a lot in pregnancy - my active wee thing!

I was right on 18 weeks.

If your placenta is anterior, it lies at the front of your uterus, which is also where you are most likely to feel kicking, so therefore the placenta 'hides' any possible movement until the kicks are much stronger. It is still possible to feel movement at the back of the uterus, but it is generally less sensitive there.

I felt my first kick at 16 weeks and DH felt it the same night - so probably a bit earlier but like everyone else I didn't realise it was the baby.

Thanks blondy, that explains things well.

I suppose you don't find out if your placenta is anterior or not unless you have an ultrasound???
