i just bought a white noise CD..now i thought white noise was lots of things like vaccum cleaner etc.. and thats the implication i got from the website as they have cd's for vaccum cleaning and dryers and stuff..this cd i spent 30 dollars on (well Mum did ..thanks Mum) just has radio static..for an hour!!!!!!!!! we will try it and see though..the normal radio seems to be doing a fine job though... i just assumed it would be various sounds...it says its great for calming babies etc..but if i'd known it was just static i coulda put the radio on that myself:)

anyone else have white noise cd's ?(got mine from the sleep store)

I have got the sounds for silence CD (got given it free from work) which has a variety of sounds (i.e. vaccum cleaning and various other weird sounds) as well as white noise. It also has around 6 classical songs which I have found good.....but to be honest we mostly using the white noise track and just have it on repeat.

I agree the white noise CD are expensive for what they are.

We don't have any special CDs but just leave the radio on static. It seems to work for us.

Oh, sorry Kawww but that made lol...  I can't believe they just don't tell you to put your radio to static.

I had no idea what white noise was for ages, just kind of nodded when other mums talked about it....  But our white noise is the cicadas Daniel goes straight off to sleep when I open the window in his room.

We have one, it's an hour of heartbeat type stuff. We just put it on repeat and Daniel likes it. It's very soothing, I can hear it through the wall at night and helps me even go to sleep

I had possibly THE most irritating lullaby CD when the gremlins were tiny, I just used to play it on repeat while they were sleeping. It helped drown out the background noises like the washing machine, TV, Maya etc. and they seemed to sleep much better with it on.

She's not kidding! Eden slept thru my best efforts to wake her the other day (her mummy said I was allowed ) and thru being passed around to Mel and nana...

it says dont listen to it while driving or operating machinery..thats cause you would go mental..its one full hour of radio static... i cant believe it doesnt say that..:( all the other cds have sounds like dryers etc:( GRRRR!! to be fair he does seem to think its ok..but not reacting much different to the shower or the normal radio...

the only good thing is the radio skips a bit (need to get a new one) and he doesnt notice cause its all one sound..when we get a new one we have a couple of annoying cds(he'll love it but im sooooo used to hearing it at work) so this weekeend think i will get a new radio and listen to that through the monitor instead of the static(which is driving me mental through the monitor:)!at least a heartbeat would be nice!:)

yeah Mozart would be much nicer:)! i cant believe they wrote a warning about sleeping while driving on it:)

that's great about Eden sleeping !:)

I have actually found Ella white noise helps me go to sleep as well- when she wakes up early in the morning I put it on for her and both of us go back to sleep again listening to it

kawww - I downloaded some white noise music for free off the internet when I was making a CD for my friend that I gave to her at her baby shower a couple of months ago - it wasn't just static, and had things like nursery rhymes with background noises like waves etc and other 'white' noise. if you are able to download and burn some try it, I think i just typed in google free download baby music or something and it came up in one of the searches.
