Hi there - I'm new to this site and wanted to ask around to see if anyone else is facing any similar issues.
We've just married and decided to come off contraception and see what happens - neither of us have children. I'm 28 with a history of Endo (had surgery last year to clear some out), the odd cyst but not quite PCOS, and a possible weakened cervix from another surgery 7 years ago.
My husband is 35 and lost a testicle when he was 10 through trauma - it was reabsorbed into the body, not surgically removed. My doc says this may have caused antibodies to attack sperm in the other teste, although I cant find anything on the internet about reabsorbed testes and fertility.
He's going to have a sperm count test done soon, and we're not exactly 'trying' yet, but I like to try and get as much information as possible on these things so that I'd at least have an idea of course of action if there were problems.

My Doc thinks that the greatest likelihood of fertility issues will be from my husband.

My question is, has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

Cheers

Hey Tonkstar...welcome to Ohbaby. My story is a little different to yours but my DH has a really low sperm count (less than 1 million. Normal is over 80 million) But we have managed to have little girl after 18mths of trying and are now ttc no 2. Have been trying for 14mths for this one. But as people have said to me it only takes i little sperm to get thru to get pregnant so I try to remember that. Hope your road to concieve is nice and short and you get a little bump soon. All the best.

Welcome Mishka
I think I read somewhere that if a man loses a testicle the remaining one works harder to compensate?
Anyway, good luck - you'll find lots of info and support here.

Get your DH's test result first before worrying. If there are problems, there are loads of ways around it e.g refer to this link here.

Also, as Kobec says, it only takes ONE sperm to work. My DH has a similar issue to yours, and the specialist is quite hopeful, although we'll probably end up going down the IVF path.
