Topic: Increasing your chances when TTC - Ideas! Posted: 04 February 2008 at 2:50pm |
Hey everyone,
I thought I would start this thread for all of us TTC and for those who have and have any ideas to share!
I have heard a lot of interesting comments about things that can be done to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.
Legs up the wall, Robitussin etc..... SO what does everyone do!
Maybe we can get a few more BFP's or at least have a good laugh while trying out some new things!

I read the other day on a blog (cant remember which one now i'm afraid) that women who consume full fat icecream once a day have a higher chance of falling pregnant.
The only excuse i need!!
Also that one cup of green tea can increase conception chances.

Also, anyone know what is supposed to happen if you take Robitussin and if there is anyone it has worked for?

Green tea is good for you and has lots of antioxidants etc and I have at least one cup a day but I only buy healtheries green tea which is caffeine free so go and buy this one kobec.
Parki Robitussin is meant to help thin out cervical mucus making what cm you do have more thin and stretchy. There is a website www.fertilityplus.org that explains about what sort of Robitussin to look for what days to take etc.
Acupuncture is very good for helping to balance the body for conception, helped me along with clomid to conceive my daughter.

I figured it might have something to do with the cervical mucus thing!
Thanks Honeybun, I'll go and check out that site.
I have never had acupunture before, does it hurt? I have a slight fear of needles!

I have heard of the robotussin thing before also.
I have also talked to someone who swears by drinking a litre of pineapple juice a day!
The asprin thing, alot of ppl call it baby asprin..not too sure how it works, but as asprin thins the blood maybe it thins out mucous also.
One other thing i found interesting while on another ttc site was this. There was a couple who had been trying to conceive for a couple years with no luck. She read online somewhere that using a laptop alot can reduce the activity level of sperm. At this point they were willing to try anything and as her husband was an avid laptop user, working from home....for a month he didnt use the laptop on his lap and hey presto...they conceived! She went on to say she doesnt know if thats what did it in the end, but she certainly wanted to let other ppl know!
We have only been ttc since nov, with mc in dec...so have only just been seeing what happens...may try something later if we need to.

Thats very interesting to know Honeybun. I was getting the Twinings one and rang them up to see if there was caffeine in green tea(cause I couldn't find any mention of it on the box) and they said that ALL green tea has caffeine in it. Thanks for letting me know. I don't actually like the taste much anyway so the lady suggested that I buy Red Bush tea. Tastes just like normal tea and so am having that in the morning with my brekky

Great thread idea Parki!
Has anyone tried 'Pre-seed'? It's like a lube you 'insert' before BD.
My friend got 3 sachets and used one. She got preg in her very first month so has given the other two to me, yay! I don't know if it was the Pre-seed that helped her or if she's just really fertile
I will try it out next cycle if no BFP this time.
This cycle we have been BDing every 2 days. Although we did a bit more over the weekend

Wow all green tea has caffeine in, I really never heard that before.
Can you buy red bush tea from normal shops.
I've not been trying many tricks, I am trying to stay lying down for at least 20 mins after BD, this makes me nervous everytime as it has caused uti's before and in fact did last month
Robutussin - what is that?

Yep fifi you can get red bush tea from pak'n'save. Its brand is Red Seal. Its in a orange-yellow box in the isle with all the other herbel teas. Its really nice with a little bit of milk and half a teaspoon of honey. Yummy.
I am with you about the UTI thing. I used to get them all the time before I got pregnant with my 2 year old and used to freak out about not going loo (tmi I know) straight after BDing for the fear of getting one of those nasty things. Funnily (sp) enough I haven't had one since I got pregnant last time. They say that when you have a baby it usually clears up problems like that so hopefully it will work for you once you get your BFP!!!
Has anyone else tried this "Pre-seed" thing? Where do you get it from.

I haven't tried it, but looked into it, you can buy it off TM. I found something else which was cheaper but I'm not sure how widely avaliable it is.

Evening Primrose Oil does a similar thing to Robitussen.
I thought the pre-seed was only better for conception than normal lube, not better than without it at all?

Pre seed is basically a replacement if you normally use lube. If you wouldn't normally need lubrication then theres probably no point buying preseed.

Fifi101 - Robitussin is a cough syrup - you need to get the one for chesty coughs I think it is, can't quite remember now. I pretty sure it has a yellow label though.
I used it when I was trying to get pregnant and it happened the first night - don't know how much of that is related to the Robitussin, but I'll be using it again next time!
The other thing I did was chart my cycles for about 6 months before we were TTC, just so I could get an idea of timing etc. And I bought a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility software - that was brilliant as it can predict when you are likely to O etc and when the best time to BD is. Definitely worth the money!!
Good luck to everyone TTC!
