The boys started at daycare this week on the 9hrs that i get from WINZ. Wow i can't believe how much they love it and how much i get done when they are not here!!!!! Yesterday they were there for 6 hrs and when i went to pick them up at 3 i got a quick cuddle from both and then they ran off to play again!! So glad they have settled fine. In a few weeks time I will be leaving one of the boys in daycare for 3 hrs and take the other lad out to spend one on one time maybe go to the pool etc then swop around the next day. I really want to hang with each of the boys on their own and cant wait to do this. Also i think they will learn abit of indepence from each other having time away .

jack started daycare this week too!
i'm working part time so he's there from 9.30-3.30 and i can't believe how well he's settled in.
i drop him off and barely get a goodbye wave and when i pick him up i have to chase him to get a cuddle!!
i don't like not spending as much time with him, but it's all for his benefit so its gotta be good....right??

I know it can be hard on Mummy, but having some time away is good for both of you.

At least they are all happy!

Jake and taine are off to care in march. I'm really looknig forward to it (bad mum!), but Jake just LOVES other kids so it will be great for him. Taine will be with my nana, whcih will be good for her!

Good on the boys for loving daycare. it is so much worse for mums rather than the kids (well, usually!)

i know i know its great to have time out. Yay for me. When I save up some $$ am going to go to the hairdressers and say "take your time" lol. That is what I am looking forward to the most yayay

Yeah is worst for the mums -although I wasnt too stressed but did ring to see how they were settling in. It was feeling alittle lost at home and it was sooooo quite lol

Although we have been for several 'trials' and he seems to love it! Doesn't care if I leave but packs a wobbly if we have to go home!! Good sign right?!

absolutely Anna lol. I think kids can really thrive in that environment. They will learn things that we may not know. By that I mean new songs etc.
On the boys first day they walked down to feed the deer

a) i would never had made them walk the distance cos well its a mission with the 2 of them so they are tightly stapped in the pram lol and

b) i didnt even know they had a deer park in waipukurau lol.

Also they had a gymnastic thing on for the littlies. I think its just great and my boys love it. When I went to pick them up on thurs Keegs didnt event notice I was there he was too busy having a chat with one of the carers. Jaidyn came and said a wuick hello them he was off. So yeah its gotta be good gor bubs and mums

Hey that sounds great Marlene!
I'm finding it really hard to keep Hannah entertained at the moment. She's happy playing by herself mostly and it's just me being lazy but it'll be great when she's back at creche so I don't have to be to worried about her not getting enough stimulation.
She goes back for a visit tomorrow and I can't wait. She'll be so excited to be back there!

Just run like the wind when she isn't looking. They soon get over it.
I used to hang at creche heaps last year and the mothers who were concerned about their children crying used to hang round longer which made the kid even worse.
So brutal but necessary... like ripping of a plaster, if you do it fast it only hurts for a little while

I have been lucky as the boys were really good about gonig to daycare. I think it helps they have each other and also we go lots of places and meet heaps of ppl. I think playgroup has helped too.

Good luck with James at daycare and Nikki I can so relate to the stimulation thing. I run out of things all the time to do around the house although they have now started to "help" me around the house with things like the dishes and vacuuming and folding the washing lol. I kid you not they love to help and I LOVE to clean up the mess after lol

i watched a programme in japan about a family with quads. (the children, not the farm bikes) Mum used to take them to daycare, and honestly, the kids weren't even in the door before Mum was driving away in that car so damn fast!!! It was all in Japanese, but extremely easy to undersatnd.

i think it's just hard cos she's been there so long, since she was 12 weeks old, so i never thought i'd have to go through this - but no - i don't stick around - i don't sneak out either because they say it's good to teach them to trust you.. so i always say goodbye, kiss, cuddle and say i will be back at..., then leave and wave at the door. same routine i always had with paris.

here's a tip though, with older kids sometimes if they don't settle well - make a routine of doing something with them, the same thing every day - and they will get into the routine of knowing that after they have done that 1 puzzle, or read that 1 book with mummy, that mummy will go - and after a while it actually works, they get used to it, .

Sounds good!
Hannah didn't even notice me today while she was playing at creche but at about 10.30 she seemed to get really tired all of a sudden and did her tired routine of falling over and acting like it is the end of the world. I think it was too much running round for the little tyke!

Just wanted to say that those of you who said you are 'bad mums' (ie. Lizzle and Lu!) you are SO NOT! I put Maya in care at 5 mths because I had to, but it is the best thing I could have done for her, she loves it, and she has so many little friends.

Maya is starting a new kindy next week - Montessori. It will be a huge change for her as she has been in teh centre she goes to now since she was 5 mths and is now old enough that she has made little friends that she will be leaving.

So it's a tough decision, but I think the right one as she will get more 1 on 1 time at Montessori, and they have a bigger focus on literacy and learning than the daycare. Plus it's not as expensive as I thought it would be - basically the same as daycare.
