is driving me MAD!!!  Has anyone had hayfever during pregnancy and what did you use to help with the symptoms?  My MW and the chemist said it is fine to take Claratyne and I took some on Saturday when it was REALLY bad, but I'm wondering if theres something else that would help??  Any advice appreciated, the scratchy nose, watery eyes and sneezing is soooooo not a good look lol!!

I was told to steer clear of drugs and I saw a homeopath who gave me a remedy which worked to some degree but not as much as the stuff I am taking now. I just tried to lots of things to avoid hayfever. You know windows shut, wearing sunglasses which cover the eye, washing my hair in the evening and not drying clothes outside.

Good luck though, I am happy to be back to my nasal spray this year tho

I was told not to take any pills as they can effect the blood supply to the baby.

apparently you can get a saline spray from the chemist which is supposted to help. I am currently taking flexonase nasal spray which is helping heaps. The chemist and my midwife both said it was fine to take.

good luck

I was told not to take the pills either. My midwife said that Otrivin nasal spray was safe to take. Luckily for some reason the hayfever hasn't hit me this year

I get this really bad but in all my pregnacy's it seem's not to be such a problem maybe its the same for you our bodies do weird thing's when preggy. Except this time for me I spoke to chemist and they said take nothing(I can't take nose spray it burn's the inside of my nose and makes me worse) so I ot some eculypus oil and it has worked a treat to clear thing's up. DH get's it really bad too nothing work's for him.

I have always had hayfever and thru both or my pregnancies not on advice from the pharmacist I used Flixonase when it was really bad.
They say not to have stuff like that but my midwife said it was up my nose and clear of baby so it wont cause any problems..

I have two healthy huge children and another one on the way and have used it a couple of times in the last week.

My doctor prescribed me Polarmine which was AWESOME but made me sleep like a trooper. I took it at night and slept really well and it certainly helped the next day with the symptoms.

If in doubt, see your GP
