okay, I am 8 weeks 3 days, can anyone out there make me feel better and tell me that this nausea is gonna go soon?

Both times I had MS until about 13/14 weeks. It probably peaked around 8-11 weeks, and I was just feeling so sorry for myself then. For most people it eases off in the early second trimester, some it lasts a bit longer and for some very unlucky few it lasts the whole time.

People will give you heaps of advice on getting through it but I really found nothing worked totally - all you can do is get lots of sleep, try not to sit around thinking about it (seems to make you feel worse) and try and at least keep some fluids down. I lived on lemonade iceblocks and bland foods like potato, rice etc for about 2 months, and wore sea bands but I dont think they did much. I found ginger did absolutely nothing, same with the dry crackers firs tthing in the morning. Oh and one other thing that seemed to work was having a snack in the middle of the night - I think one of the theories behind MS is a drop in blood sugars from not eating while you are sleeping, so the eating in the night kinda makes sense.

thank you so much for your repsonse, yeh seems that noone really knows how long it will be around, its different for everyone, but oh, i wish it would go soon, so i can function normally again, maybe ill be lucky and itll go in a few weeks or atleast die off a bit.cheers again

I had terrible MS this time, for about 4 weeks (7-11wks) all i could do was vomit and sit on the couch, then it eased off a bit....now at 14 weeks there are much less sick times than non sick times.

I have to admit that what aimeejoy said was all the same for me too, nothing really worked, or if it did work today it wouldnt work tomorrow.
If you cant eat during the night...try gatorade, that was quite good for the blood sugars.

sometimes nothing works as it is how you metabloise the hormones more than anything else..i guess most people try ginger and eating little and often and drinking water and stuff.. i found not a lot helped either ..mine gone by 10 weeks came back third tri though..

I had nasty morning sickness for 20 weeks

homeopathic stuff helped a bit, ice cream helped a lot (weird I know) but nothing made it really go away.

I had really bad morning sickness until around 14 weeks- I remember lying on the couch one weekend after throwing up the entire day saying to DH 'we are just having the one kid, that's it I can't take this any more..." and yet now that I have Ella I definitely plan on having at least 1 more.

I took some natural ginger tablets from the health food shop which helped a bit, but I ended up going to the doc for something else and once I told him that I had really bad morning sickness he prescribed me some anti nausea tablets (same pills you can use if you are really hungover) that are safe to use duringpregnancy- honestly they were a MIRACLE worker, as soon as I started taking them I felt like a normal person again- next pregnancy I will be staight to the doc when I hit the 6 week mark.

Ginger is really good I lived on ginger beer with Alan. Really did not get any morning sickness with Mikey, but this time I feel quecy 24/7. So far I am finding drinking loads of water and eating little amount often oh and avoiding dary seem's to help oh and sucking on lollies.

I have hyperemesis which is the name for particularly severe morning sickness, I have had 4 days in hospital with this pregnancy, and had it in both of my last pregnancies. I've found not much actually helps, eat when you feel like you can not just coz you feel you have to coz bub will be fine, and try to snack regularly. I'm on two different anti-nausea meds which don't actually stop the nausea but do stop the vomiting for me so I am able to keep things down a little better now. They are called Cyclazine and Maxalon, your midwife or GP can prescribe them. Otherwise, go the iceblocks! I find water bloats me and makes me feel sicker, have been drinking lemonade and a bit of raspberry fizzy which I am craving for some reason.
Good luck, hope it eases soon for you! I had it till 16 weeks with maya, all the way thru with the gremlins, and this time it peaked at about 7-8 weeks and is now not quite so unbearable coz of the meds but am hoping to feel better soon.

I had some ms with my first, none with this one (although plenty of stomach bugs). I found ice blocks were great, and second the ginger beer. Mine eased up after 14 weeks.

Emma - I had maxalon to ease nausea after an operation after having DD and it was great. Hope you're starting to feel better now.

It normally eases around the 12 week mark but not always. Fingers crossed yours will get better soon

Sorry to say this, but I had it really bad for the whole 42 weeks I was preg with #2 and for about 26 weeks with Jacob...

My midwife told me that you feelworse in about weeks 8 thru 11 as these are key growth periods, and after that it shoud ease off a little s your body takes over some of the work.

Everyone is different and what works for some dosen't work for others, but one common theme is defiantely the blood sugar drop. I ate alot of barley sugars this time around, I found they helped,a nd had a digestive bikkie/rice craker/babnan when I was up inthe night with #1 when preg with #2.

I had all day sickness up until about 8 weeks or 9 weeks, it peaked at 8 weeks to 11 weeks then slowly got better, its now totally gone. Its so horrible feeling like that all day but trust me it will get better in the next few weeks. Hang in there

thanks girls, i hope so too, its so had to function, today I just couldnt stop feeling sick, ive been in bed all day and its xmas! my birthday was yesterday and spent that vomiting!or more dry wretching, its nasty.
Fingers crossed that mine will go in the next couple of weeks, i really wanna feel normal again.

Oh noooo thats awful that u were sick for your birthday! If it makes ya feel any better, my birthday was 20th December and I have a headcold so I was sick too.

Hmmmm I have got MS worse this time with either of the other kids. Cant stand cooking...cant stand the dishwasher..have trouble walking through the supermarket!
Have gone right off coffee which is so my favorite and just feeling so postively yuck.
Hard this time as have little Blake to run around after too!!!
Oh and as for the big roast I am supposed to be cooking tomorrow...TOTALLY dreading it!Let alone eating it!

Oh well ......................Roll on 14 weeks! (fingers crossed)

Hope the MS goes away soon! I had hyperemesis, so I am still being sick even at 34 weeks! (Hope it doesn't make u feel down, lol... most people don't have it that long tho!) I found nothing really helped much. Just don't get tired, get heaps of rest because when you are tired you feel a million times worse! Also I couldn't keep anything down except for toast and potatoes, basically, for the first 5 months. I spent the first 5 months in bed, which totally sucked. Don't let yourself get hungry because that made me throw up straight away! If u start feeling hungry then have an iceblock or something while you are getting some proper food... seemed to help me half the time. Also I couldn't keep any water down, so I drank heaps of powerade and sports drinks... the midwife said that the sugar/salt in them helps the fluid absorb faster. I couldn't eat fruit/veg/OJ or anything for the first 5-6 months as it just came up straight away. Just eat what you can keep down and take pregnancy vitamins!

None of the other stuff really worked for me (ginger, seabands, crackers etc.) Don't get tired or hungry, drink something that absorbs quicker than water, and iceblocks are basically what got me through.

Hope you feel better soon, it truly sucks to have MS!!!
