hmmm...have somehow tonight managed to get a hole in my tooth...questions...
can i go get it filled when pregnant... I would rather wait till i am not pregnant anymore(I'm 26 weeks) will I be able to wait that long? will it being sore or if it gets worse affect the baby?
at the moment it doesn't hurt..just aches a little (probably cause I've been poking it with my tongue)...so what do i do? do i ring dentist(really cant afford it either) , do i avoid going till after baby? and will it affect baby if i get it treated or if i wait? any advice/experiences?

Hiya,
I had a crown done last week, fricken expensive!! They say it is usually fine to have dental work done when pregnant, 2nd trimester is the best time. Just let your dentist know because they may choose not to do x-rays, but if they need to do them, they will give you a lead apron to wear.

I'm 5 days ahead of ticker so I'm 3rd trimester on saturday:( what medication did they give you?

I had my wisdom tooth pulled out at 34 weeks, ouchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!, no it wasn't too bad, they can give you an injection thats safe to numb your gums but he wasn't into giving xrays, better to get it done and stop the pain, good luck

I had a HUGELY painful toothache and was at the dentist the day before i had her lol, and everytime i moved the dentist thought i was going to have her on his chair lol

I also had a wisdom tooth out at about 26 -28 weeks. You can have the local as its perfectly safe in pregnancy, my dentist flagged the x-rays. You are actually safe getting work done than not as infection etc can bring on premature labour. If you do a search on the posts, you will find heaps of questions re this which will make you feel better about going (well, it did for me)!

ok thanks guys..guess i better ring the dentist..who is going to be mad at me for not going for two years..lol.. i just thought you couldn't have the local during pregnancy but obviously you can.. right i shall track down the number..:(

well amazing what happens when you are pregnant..my dentist takes like 4 appointments to do everything ..,my Mum's one is fitting me in tomorrow and doing it all in one go..so by this time tomorrow it'll be all done hopefully...so being pregnant does help a little:) and my Mum's paying with credit card....she''s wonderful!!

Oh that's great Kawww. I had a few locals whilst pregnant when they kept prepping me for c/s and i was told they are fine.
I think you would know if you got an infection and then your doctor or m/w could give you antibiotics till you saw a dentist (or you could get an emergency appointment and the dentist would give you antibiotics). But as you're seeing them tomorrow it won't come to that.
