hi guys jaidyn is sick today - he vomitted lastnight but hasnt done so today however he has a high temp and has just hung out on the couch all day. Have tried to give him some food. He had a couple bits of toast at brekkie and a couple of bites of a cracker at lunch. Also he drinking heaps - water with a dash of juice seems to be his preference.
Does anyone have any ideas on light foods which he might atempt to try. Just want him to have something in his tummy should he get the vomitting thing again.

When Kiya was a similar age and had a vomiting bug, my GP recommended giving her Powerade with a pinch of salt added. He said it would replace the electrolites that the body needs. He said the light green Lemon/Lime one is best, as it has the least added colour.

Toast and crackers are good. If you can get him to drink plain water it might be a bit better than with added juice as the juice is quite acidic and can sometimes upset the tummy when it's a bit irritable. But if not, stick with the diluted juice coz andy fluids are better than none.
When Maya had gastro we fed her up on lemonade iceblocks to help keep her hydrated, and help cool her down.
Otherwise, if he is feeling a little bit better you could try the BRAT diet - bananas, rice, apples and toast. That's supposed to be the best way to ease back into eating after you've been vomiting.

My girls have both had a horrible gastro bug that lasted 1 week. Alyssa had to spend a night in hospital with it. It was so not fun. If his drinking etc seems to ease off take him to the doc and maybe try getting a perscription for paedialite. has all the electrolites etc in it that they need. Hope hes feeling better soon.

Mum always used to give us stewed apples when we were eating after being sick.

How your boy gets better soon!
