she sniffs and swipes her hand/ arm across her nose.
it looks so horrible and we dont know where she picked it up from.
any ideas on how to stop her from doing it?
when she gets sniffly we give ehr a tissue and she'll wipe her nose but then go back to doing the swipe thing. it jsut looks so grose

It is something they learn without having to be taught I think. Like eating the cream out of the middle of oreos (except that is waaaaay cuter)
Ella does it too and my magnificent way of handling it is usually saying something to the tune of "No Ella! Not on your sleeve! Get a tissue!"
Very effective, she freezes mid swipe and then obediently trots off to get a tissue
She does know how to blow her nose though, so it lasts a bit longer...

Sorry, this was totally useless response wasn't it?
Hope you get some good ideas!

I agree Mel, its just one of those habits that they learn to do without reason. I hope she gets the hang of the tissue thing. Another good way to encourage her to use tissues is to get the disney covered tissue boxs from the $ busters shop in the hutt. I think they are $2 and they have the princesses on them. Call them the princess tissues for princesses lol. The novelty may not last long but might be enough to break her new habit.

Like Kels said, make tissues a treat.

And be thankful it isn't YOU she's wiping her snot on... that's Hannah's favourite trick. I need to buy more patterned clothing so it is less noticeable (that'll teach me for only wearing black!).
